Corporate Safety Manager

PCSI is looking for a Corporate Safety Manager! The Safety Manager provides technical guidance on safety regulations and risk prevention by administering PCSI's Safety and Risk Mitigation Program. This role involves developing and conducting training with a wide range of employees to promote a safety-focused culture. The Safety Manager also oversees staff at remote work sites who have safety responsibilities such as leading accident investigations, preparing site-specific prevention plans and hazard analyses, and tracking trends.

We are looking for someone with experience implementing and enforcing company-wide safety programs and with safety knowledge in general industry and/or construction. This is a mid-level position that partners closely with the VP of Safety and a Sr. Safety Manager, and works out of our corporate office in south Austin, TX on a hybrid basis, with some out-of-state travel to work sites.

What You'll Do as Corporate Safety Manager:

Lead and drive the implementation and ongoing compliance of our Corporate Environmental, Safety, and Risk Mitigation Program Provide leadership coordination, and technical expertise in safety, health, and environmental compliance in compliance with PCSI Safety Policies, EM385-1-1, OSHA, EPA, and other related standards. Facilitate, conduct, and advise on training initiatives, including the development of effective training materials. Take charge of investigating all actual/potential mishaps and oversee the root cause and corrective action processes. Ensure compliance with relevant local environmental, health, and safety, legal, and regulatory requirements, as well as any company-specific standards that surpass regulatory mandates. Serve as the technical expert and ensure implementation of our corporate safety standards, supporting compliance activities, tracking, and reporting of companywide performance metrics. Work with company leaders at distant locations to develop processes and procedures that effectively accomplish the goal of zero accidents. Provide support for medical and industrial hygiene programs, collaborating closely with PCSI’s Operations team. Leads and executes injury and risk prevention efforts which focus on addressing unsafe behaviors and establishing safety as a core value within PCSI. Performs safety, first aid, and environmental inspections to eliminate unsafe conditions within the workplace. Track and trend safety data to help proactively manage safety efforts. Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of company safety policies and procedures ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Provide safety and risk mitigation training to site leaders and employees as a method to build a positive culture of safety. Backup to department Specialist for ensuring compliance of companywide OSHA recordkeeping. Prepare site specific Accident Prevention Plans (APP), Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA)/Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Health and Safety Plans (HASP) and other safety programs. Develop, revise, and maintain PCSI SAFE Week initiative in collaboration with department and site leaders to promote safety awareness. Conduct field investigations and data analysis in support of safety and environmental assessments. Collaborate with all departments, for full support to PCSI’s operations team relating to safety and risk mitigation. Have awareness of claims management of workers’ compensation, automobile, and general liability matters for back-up to the department’s Claims Administrator. Participation in all applicable performance evaluation programs is required.

What You'll Need:

Minimum four (4) years of leading a safety program or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Relevant professional certification(s), including OSHA 30-hour certification preferred. OSHA 501 or 500 Certification a plus. Leadership experience, managing one or more employees. Experience with either General Industry or Construction Regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience working with NFPA, and related environmental laws is preferred. Experience with EM-385 is preferred. Experience with SharePoint and Office 365 is preferred. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and creative problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritizing skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Ability to interpret and write policies, procedures, and regulations. Advanced MS Word, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint experience required. Must be able to create graphs and charts, embed videos and other graphics into reports and presentations. Requires knowledge of PC functions and software. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Other Requirements:

Ability to pass criminal, drug, financial, and driving screening. May need to have the ability to legally drive a company vehicle. Ability to gain approval for physical access to secure military base work locations. Restrictions vary from site to site. Ability to remain in a stationary position regularly, up to 80% of the time. Ability to travel up 25-30% of the time, by either ground or air. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as calculator, phone, copier, etc. and a personal computer. Ability to exchange accurate information in person and over the phone.
