The Senior Accountant is responsible for advanced support of the Regional Vice President Hotel Finance/Regional Director of Finance (RVPF/RDOF), the Director of Finance and accounting teams at each of the region’s properties.The Senior Accountant will report to the Regional Vice President Hotel Finance/Regional Director of Finance.

Responsibilities

 

Banking

Reconcile cash accounts daily by downloading and reviewing bank activity.Manage Cash Management files and lead weekly calls with owners and team leads, as applicable.Complete and finalize all bank reconciliations to ensure a smooth month-end close.

New Vendor Set-Up

Efficiently create and maintain hotel vendors through Davidson’s ticketing system.Verify all required documentation, such as W-9 forms, is included with each request to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Journal Entries

Review and post Journal Entries prepared by the property during the month-end close process.Step in to create any necessary Journal Entries that have not been completed by the property.

Balance Sheet Reconciliations

Prepare cash reconciliations and assist with other accounts as needed by the hotel accounting team.Approve key accounts prepared during the month-end close, ensuring they meet accuracy standards and include sufficient documentation.Provide comprehensive training to the team on completing and reviewing Balance Sheet reconciliations effectively.

Income Statement Reviews

Analyze the month-end workbook prepared by the hotel accounting team.Review the income statement and provide actionable feedback to the property for corrections prior to closing.

Financial Statement Preparation and Distribution

Develop and share the month-end close calendar for your region.Ensure hotel financial statements meet Davidson’s high standards of accuracy and professionalism.Conduct a thorough review of draft financial statements and distribute finalized reports to internal teams and external stakeholders in a timely manner.

Annual Audit

Act as the primary liaison between external auditors and property teams.Lead the audit process by delegating tasks and managing deliverables.Assist with gathering requested information and maintaining an organized workflow.

General

Be a trusted financial advisor and resource to hotel financial and management teams.Continuously engage in training and development to stay ahead on systems and procedures, empowering yourself and your team for success. Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

Educational Background: A degree from a four-year college is preferred, ideally with a focus in accounting.Professional Experience: At least five years of relevant experience, preferably within the hospitality industry.Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of accounts payable, double-entry accounting (debits and credits), accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, ownership reporting, cash management, capital expenditures, and task management. Familiarity with payroll concepts, budgeting, and forecasting is also essential.Leadership Skills: Proven experience training entry-level team members and onboarding new hires to set them up for success.Communication Proficiency: Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate and present information.Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to leverage technology for efficiency.Industry Standards Knowledge: A solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
