We are seeking a, qualified, experienced and dynamic Social Expert and CSR Co-Ordinator to join our International projects team. Based in our regional offices in Barbados, this role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with both Governmental Departments and NGO’s, developing and implementing training programs to fulfill our contractual obligations in a way that will have maximum impact on the societies in which we work. Implementing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives across Barbados and all of our international projects.
The role entails a significant amount of travel to our projects based around the Caribbean region and the ideal candidate will have a strong background in stakeholder engagement, social development, and program management, with proven experience working in an international and multicultural context.
Location: Barbados (with travel to surrounding islands)
What You’ll Do Here:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, NGO’s, local municipalities and community leaders impacted by our projects. Act as a liaison between Aecon and Project stakeholders to facilitate compliance with project requirements. Monitor and address socio-political trends and risks that may impact projects. Develop and implement training as required by project contracts and develop initiatives to upskill local communities and employees. Partner with educational institutions and local organizations to deliver impactful programs. Design and execute CSR programs aligned with Aecon’s values and project goals. Manage the project CSR budget to provide maximum benefit to impacted communities and liaise with Corporate Communications team to prepare press / social media releases. Lead community engagement activities to foster positive relationships and promote sustainable development. Measure and report the social impact of initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
What You Bring to the Team:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Administration, International Relations, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in government relations, CSR, or social program management, preferably in an international context. Highly organised with the ability to lead and work on your own initiative. Proven ability of managing budgets. Strong understanding of Caribbean socio-political and cultural dynamics. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to design and implement training and development programs. Experience with stakeholder engagement and community outreach. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of project management tools is an asset. Fluency in English –languages relevant to the region are a plus – Patois, Spanish. A proactive and innovative thinker with a solution-oriented approach. Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to travel across project locations.
