Corporate Social Responsibility Professional Leader North America
**Introduction** We are looking for a Leader of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) in North America. This senior role will be responsible for regional IBM CSR representation and execution of key programs and initiatives to continue advancing IBM’s performance and global recognition as a socially responsible, technology innovator and sustainable company. IBM WW CSR consists of four major areas: 1. IT Education and Workforce Development, a highly impactful group of initiatives at the core of IBM’s commitment to skill 30 million people globally by 2030 and 2 million learners in AI by 2026. It offers platform-based hybrid programs on Cloud and Artificial Intelligence(AI) thru [1] IBM SkillsBuild for exploratory level, entry-level and professional reskilling and upskilling to two major groups: a. Traditionally underrepresented areas of our society with a focus to potentialize access to new Tech entry-level jobs throughout a network of alliances and partnerships with government and NPO sectors. b. Academia programs focused mainly on gen-AI professional content for developer communities inside universities, faculty members and train to train models. 2. ESG/Sustainability - specific AI applied for social impact projects thru [2] Sustainability Accelerator; Materiality assessments for all areas related to global ESG report. 3. References Visible links 1. https://skillsbuild.org/ 2. https://www.ibm.com/impact/initiatives/ibm-sustainability-accelerator **Your role and responsibilities** The CSR Leader North America drives local implementation of global polices and strategies for these four major areas to meet and exceed stakeholder expectations. The role manages corporate social responsibility teams for Social Impact and Academia in US and Canada, evolving the social responsibility strategy and framework and operating internal governance and coordination bodies in this region. Key target audiences for CSR programs in US- veterans, women in STEM, African American and Hispanics; aboriginals in Canada - that we reach through NPO’s, schools, community colleges and multiple alliances with public and private initiatives executing our signature programs IBM SkillsBuild for Adults and High School students; Academia in US is focused on developer communities thru Student Developer Program for college students executed with target Tier 1 and 2 Universities and target education systems i.e. HBCUs. It also includes large volunteer programs in this region, Communications internal and external and specifics assignments around global ESG reporting and Sustainability Accelerator program. The CSR Leader North America also help represents the company in external corporate social responsibility and sustainability organizations, initiatives, collaborations and events. This position reports to the Global Director of Geo’s and Markets and will be staffed in US DC, NY or RTP area. Leaders are expected to spend time with their teams and clients and therefore are generally expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week, subject to business needs. **Required technical and professional expertise** Specific responsibilities include: · Understand, communicate and strategize for trends and developments about STEM applied to corporate social responsibility and universities among key stakeholders - clients, shareholders, employees, governments, consumers, etc. in target markets in US and Canada. · Local implementation and execution of global IBM’s IT Education and Workforce Development strategy, related to University Student Developer Program - a platform-based content and hands on experience offered for Academia students and teachers; Social Responsibility platform-based IBM SkillsBuild program for multiple audiences - high school students, teachers, adults, NGOs and strategic alliances. · Foster IBM’s Sustainability Accelerator projects - a pro bono initiative providing IBM technologies and expertise to non-profits and governments addressing climate change impacts on vulnerable populations. · Lead at North America level the materiality assessments and data collection related to annual ESG Reporting as requested by CSR CHQ. · Evolve IBM’s corporate social responsibility approach and framework, including periodic materiality assessment processes driven by CSR CHQ. · Support IBM’s engagement with key stakeholders on responsibility and sustainability topics. · Lead execution of Volunteerism and Employee Engagement programs at North America level. · Prioritize and engage strategically with external stakeholders, including organizations, alliances, coalitions, initiatives, partners and events. · Serve as resource for internal partners for formal ESG reporting and broader communications needs and opportunities. · Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal partners / functions that contribute to responsibility and sustainability to drive toward coalitions, consensus and action. · Manage agency resources (as available) to support programs and initiatives. · Expand and manage measurement activities focused on responsibility and sustainability. · Local execution of global Communications strategy both internal and external, supporting and enabling stories of impact, working closely with partners and our internal teams to support communications of efforts. **Preferred technical and professional experience** A passion for innovation and CSR; societal impact leveraged by AI and Cloud digital transformation around talent acquisition, jobs and careers; an opportunity for CSR to effectively reduce gaps and potentialize untapped talent. · Demonstrated ability to think strategically. · Corporate experience managing multiple markets in this region is required. · Breakthrough Thinking - STEM Business Acumen applied to Social Responsibility and Academia Programs; deep understand of Cloud and AI market mainly gen-AI, major players, portfolio and solutions and how this is impacting career paths, talent acquisition and untapped talent leveraged by programs focused on reskilling and upskilling, with high-school students, NPO’s target audience, Academia in US, and target education systems i.e. HBCUs in US, Indigenous schools in Canada. · Think global act local -proven capacity to drive local execution of global strategies and models. · Ability to work within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or geographic management. · A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in similar roles, experience implementing similar programs in a corporate environment is strongly preferred. · Experience managing and advancing broad-based corporate education and workforce development programs. · Understanding of NA ESG landscape, frameworks and standards, ratings agencies, evolving legislation and trends affecting technology companies. · Involvement in developing and managing social responsibility and sustainability strategies, including the materiality assessment process. · Understanding of the evolving expectations for social responsibility and sustainability among various stakeholders (e.g., shareholders, ESG ratings firms, governments, non-governmental organizations, etc.). · Understanding of leading corporate social responsibility standards and frameworks and experience conducting gap analyses and action plans mainly in US. · Exceptional ability to develop positive relationships and lead through influence with internal partners, build consensus and prioritize action and results. · Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) degree required. · Outstanding communicator with excellent presentation and strong written and oral communications skills. · Professional presence to be a trusted representative of the company with external stakeholders. · Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible. · Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a team-based environment that is fast-paced and rapidly changing.
