Job Summary
The Corporate Sustainability Lead is responsible for managing the collection, analysis, and reporting of environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance data across the company to enable the development, measurement and disclosure of AEP’s sustainability performance. They will be responsible for monitoring and/or responding to third-party ESG ratings, rankings and standards to mitigate financial, regulatory and reputational risk and influence credit ratings, insurance costs, and access to capital.They will also be responsible for responding to investor, customer and supplier requests to complete their sustainability assessment or provide sustainability-related data.
Additionally, this role will be responsible for gathering company performance data while implementing data controls through standard processes, while ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Job Description
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Support the creation of the annual Sustainability Report, ensuring compliance with ESG reporting standards and meeting the expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
Gather, analyze, and communicate sustainability data from various departments and databases for ad-hoc data requests and annual reporting purposes, including the Corporate Sustainability Report, GRI, SASB, etc.
Prepare responses for ESG rating agencies and key customers and suppliers to improve ESG scores and enhance the company’s market positioning.
Assist with the validation and QA/QC of both quantitative and qualitative data that will be reported to internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare trend analysis and benchmark research on key topics.
Implement standardized processes and controls to collect ESG data – improving process efficiencies and lowering O&M costs.
Create systems and dashboards to monitor and measure ESG performance.
Leverage technology solutions such as big data and automation to enhance sustainability performance disclosure.
Perform ESG market research and monitor sustainability-related regulations and standards to keep the organization informed on potential business risks and opportunities.
Develop and manage a robust data architecture to support both data exploration and analytics.
Lead ad hoc projects that support AEP’s vision and core principles.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: B.S./B.A. in environmental/sustainability field, communications, business, public policy, analytics or marketing.
Experience: 5+ years of professional experience, preferably in Corporate Sustainability, along with experience in business analysis, and data trending with storytelling.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of sustainability practices and issues, including sustainability reporting, ESG- and climate-related disclosure regulations, reporting frameworks and standards is a plus.
Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate important information with a strong attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including dead-line sensitive priorities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to communicate complex business information in a clear and compelling way.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, influence and build effective working relationships with internal and external partners to achieve common goals.
This role is expected to report onsite 5 days per week.
