Position Summary
This position will be responsible for the coordination of a variety of ministerial activities at the Santa Monica Corps, and involves complex interactions within various departments, programs and community service agencies.
Essential Functions
Assist the Corps’ Leader in the daily operations and oversight of the Santa Monica Corps in the following areas:
Supply spiritual leadership and operational management to maintain all Salvation Army programs, memberships and services for the corps unit. Provide oversight and leadership to Corps’ Christian Education, Men’s, Women’s Ministries, and Youth programs. Provide direct counseling and referral services as needed. Provide proper record keeping and security as needed in general areas of oversight. Maintain proper Corps records including statistical, financial and all other required reports as requested by Corps Leader. Provide personal visitation, discipleship and mentoring of soldiers and clients as needed and requested. Bring the evangelistic/holiness mission of The Salvation Army to soldiers and clients and share with them that they can experience the redeeming love of Jesus Christ. Processing property rental requests, repairs, and upkeep. Processing TSAMM agenda items and coordination of related projects. Payroll for Corps. Planning and implementation of Special Corps Events: i.e.; Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Dinner, etc. Christmas Coordinator: Kettle coordination of entire kettle effort. Hiring, recruiting, and coordination of kettle workers, volunteers, and volunteer groups. Supervision of kettle workers. Supervision and operations of Bridgehouse. Social Services, ministry, staff, and volunteer leadership support. All other related duties as assigned by the Corps Leader.
PAY RATE: $26-$30.00/hr
Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a “Blood and Fire” Salvationist committed to fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Religion, Religious Studies, Theology or Ministry; Human Services or Social Work Degree preferred. A combination of education and work experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. Minimum of five years professional work experience. Experience in coordinating religious services. Experience providing programming for children, youth and women in a church setting. Willing to work flexible hours Be able to pass a background check allowing one to work with children Must have a vehicle, insurance and good driving record to be available to travel throughout the Southern California Division.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
