Position Summary
The Corps Ministries Assistant must be a uniform salvationist committed to the San Pedro Corps, who will participate in the leadership and development of assigned ministries that are given oversight by the Corps. Ministries include but not limited Family Fun Fellowship. Sunday Morning Responsibilities, Special events at the corps. providing oversight to local Bible Study and Discipleship Groups and new Corps ministries that will be developing.

Lead worship for each Wednesday night program. Assist Corps Officer by coordinating special guest speakers. Assist Corps Officer by coordinating visits from Canoga Park ARC and helping with driving if needed. Keep Relevant Statistics“Kids Club” - After School Music & Arts Program
Help register students and match them to interested classes. Teach and provide assistance for music, art (including but not limited to beginner brass, music theory, guitar, etc.). Teach and provide assistance for Troops program. Promote program to parents and families attending the Corps for food pantry and other programs. Help with weekly devotions to children, tailoring scripture lessons to make it easy for children to understand. Help serve and prepare snack to children. Assist the Corps Officer with contacting nursing homes in the community to schedule and coordinate visits with CCM members (including Christmas Visitation). Assist the Corps Officer with visitations for corps members and family who are ill or hospitalized. Be available to provide spiritual counseling for beneficiaries as needed. Be responsible for driving beneficiaries to Recovery Program every Wednesday evening Be responsible for coordinating or drive beneficiaries to Sunday morning worship each week Be in attendance for Wednesday Chapel services once a month, in coordination with the Corps Officer, to continue to bridge the gap between the ARC and the Santa Clarita Valley Corps.Christmas
Secure sites within the area assigned by contacting store managers, planning, where necessary, provide Certificate of Insurance, agreements, and contracts. Review the current inventory of kettle equipment and make repairs or replacements where necessary. Coordinate with HR Coordinator to recruit kettle workers and ensure that proper documentation is completed and submitted to divisional headquarters for approval. Work with the Corps Officers on the counting, reporting, and banking of money raised through the program. Contact and schedule bell ringers at available sites through the kettle season. Collect all kettles every day. Sign time sheets of bell ringers to verify hours worked. Ensure each bell ringer receives paycheck on time. At the end of the season make sure that all kettle equipment is secured in storage and send thank you letters to those have allowed the Army to place kettles at their locations. Assist with logistics in planning special events including set up, advertising, operations and clean upHomeless Outreach
Develop and maintain a schedule to reach the different pockets of homeless in Santa Clarita Valley with the coordination of other agencies. Maintain a master service and referral information list of partners within Santa Clarita Valley and work with Outreach Teams in LA County. Coordinate services with other agencies such as mental health, employment security, substance abuse programs, vocational rehabilitation, and developmental disabilities. Contact and connect with visitors and new members at the corps. Connecting them to Bible study group leader and Corps Officer. Wear the uniform each week. Assist in music duties - play/sing and support the Praise & Worship band. Drive ARC beneficiaries to and from the Sunday morning service if needed. Help lead Sunday School, in-conjunction with local Corps volunteers. Lead the Sunday worship meeting in the Corps Officers’ absence Lock/unlock building in Corps Officers’ absence Assist in the coordination of local Bible study groups. Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax, and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required) CA Driver’s license (required) 21 years of age (required) Experience in Christian education (preferred) Experience in ministry and church context Experience working with youth (2 years preferred) Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Great communication skills Ability to lead group activities and events. Computer literate and highly versed in social media platforms Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Windows, and use of Word and Excel. CPR/First Aid Certification
