Summary

Spire is seeking a Corrosion Engineer III.  This position is responsible for supporting the engineering and implementation of corrosion control projects and initiatives at Spire, which includes cathodic protection system analysis and design, corrosion control standards and implementation support, and corrosion remediation practices for the Transmission, Distribution, and Midstream Systems in meeting regulatory requirements and standards.  This position will work closely with the Corrosion Control Lead.

Duties and Responsibilities

•    Manage the development and review of corrosion control project designs, including the following:
o    Develop plans for conversion of pipeline systems from anodic to impressed current systems.
o    Evaluate and plan the scope of project areas to maintain adequate protection.
o    Coordinate project designs and approvals.
o    Monitoring costs and maintaining budget targets.
o    Verifying completion and mapping of system coverage.
•    Evaluate connectivity and adequacy of the cathodic protection systems with existing and proposed projects.
•    Provide solutions for maintenance and updating of cathodic protection facilities.  Supply estimated costs for project and annual budget planning.
•    In conjunction with the Corrosion Control Lead, manage the Corrosion Control programs and measures for all areas of the company, including transmission, distribution, HVL, LNG, underground storage, and Midstream systems. 
•    Support the transmission integrity assessment work on all transmission systems.  Assist in the completion of the assessment process and selecting remediation options as needed.
•    Support the investigation , testing, and determination of solutions for corrosion control issues with field operations.
•    Supervise/oversee Company and third-party contractor crews in the performance of cathodic protection system installation and maintenance as appropriate.
•    Oversee engineering of the cathodic protection for underground storage well facilities.
•    Ensure the company maintains appropriate standards and procedures for meeting regulatory and industry standards for proper cathodic protection applications and techniques. 
•    Evaluate CP protection systems for areas of improvement. 
•    Coordinate setup of new rectifier and test point locations for data collection.   Support record collection and data management (PCS, Maximo, etc.) to confirm completion within compliance deadlines.  
•    Support the compliance personnel during regulatory inspections and audits.  Supply necessary data and information as needed.
•    Collaborate with corrosion teams for monitoring the efficiency of cathodic protection systems though field testing and audits.
•    Oversee the mapping of cathodic protection systems. 
•    Provide training in corrosion control techniques and standards of field operations personnel as needed.
•    Support record collection for inspections on rectifiers and critical bonds.
•    Support Field Operations CP Departments as appropriate.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities Required Education (certifications, licenses) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical disciplines preferred. Successful completion of NACE International Cathodic Protection Course CP1 required. Successful completion of the NACE International Cathodic Protection Course CP2 or higher preferred. Required knowledge, skill and abilities Knowledge of DOT/PHMSA regulatory codes and standards for corrosion control preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of on-the-job experience in corrosion control activities including cathodic protection monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Underground pipeline protection experience required Valid driver’s license Physical demands, environment and schedule Work is performed in a shared, open-office environment Hybrid Working Hours: Typically, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with the option to work remote 2 days per week following onboarding Requires work during nonstandard business hours with occasional travel Occasional Travel – up to 25% Posting Requirements
