Summary:   Under general supervision of the Supervisor, the Corrosion Technician applies corrosion skills and aptitude to repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform other predictive and preventative maintenance tasks on assigned corrosion control equipment, facilities, systems, and associated devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:

Must be proficient in corrosion control and pipeline integrity methods and technologies, have a working knowledge of measurement, electrical, and mechanical activities. Whether performing or supervising others within an assigned area, specialists are responsible for a variety of tasks involved in analyzing, advanced troubleshooting, testing, monitoring, maintaining, installing, repairing, maintenance, etc. Expected to respond to call-out situations and may be required to perform additional duties due to operational upsets, construction projects, emergencies or other unusual situations. Must perform all duties in a safe manner consistent with Company procedures and policies and responsible for training. Provides assistance to District personnel. Have a working knowledge of measurement, mechanical and electrical/electronic activities as it is related to the corrosion control duties. The ambition to continue to learn the most modern methods of corrosion control, including attending classes, trainings, seminars, etc.   Special Considerations:   Must reside within 45 miles of reporting location. The described job duties are a framework in which work will be assigned. This description is not inclusive of all responsibilities or job assignments. This position will require extended off-hour duties at times.

 

  
 

Requirements:   Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: High School diploma or equivalent including a minimum 2 years' experience in corrosion control supporting pipeline integrity projects. NACE certified CP level 1 required Technical knowledge for the application and maintenance of external & internal corrosion control. Excellent verbal & written communications skills and be capable of effectively interfacing with all levels of management, field personnel, and professionals. Must be able to use sound judgment, be a self-starter and well organized. Detailed knowledge of pipeline operations, API, DOT procedures and HES. Proficiency utilizing MS Applications. Able to use and operate all pertinent safety equipment when performing duties in potentially hazardous areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, etc.). Must be able to work alone and outdoors in extreme weather and perform heavy physical labor in a safe manner. Maintain a valid driver’s license for the state of residence.   Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally Driving, walking, and standing frequently Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment Occasional overnight travel may be required
