Cortez - Project Engineer, Process and Infrastructure

Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Project Engineer, Process and Infrastructure. The successful candidate is will be responsible for overseeing internal and external resources to oversee and deliver open pit infrastructure projects to support the autonomous project requirements and other automation implementations. While working as a subject matter expert on site requirements promoting a conduit between engineering and operations for alignment. 

Additionally, document and identify the applicable infrastructure operating and maintenance requirements and coordinate with Cortez Open Pit Operations, Technical Services, Maintenance departments and OEM engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

Follow close to the existing, re-forecast, and work within a People, Process, Technology Plan that will be used to describe, track, and communicate specific project tasks and milestones.  Provide project communication internally to various project stakeholders. Communicate issues or roadblocks for maintenance team.   Scope, Oversee, and Deliver infrastructure and construction projects, operational area changes, site development activities under the direction of the site supervision and engineering teams.   Liaise between autonomous operations and engineering to ensure the timely and accurate transmission of operating plans and performance reports.   Align mine planning and design teams to the Autonomous System operating requirements.   Educate and mentor operations supervisors on autonomous operations Develop and maintain in depth technical knowledge on the AHS system, operation, and support functions.  Keep up to date with equipment changes, developments and applications related to service requirements involving procedures and standards.  Assist in the investigation and resolution of system problems by understanding and utilizing engineering standards, technical manuals, engineering prints and electronic test tooling.  Promote open communication between all levels of the organization.   Participate in the evaluation of technology solutions regarding safety and health risk, production risk, and sustained feasibility.  Ensure safe and environmentally responsible project implementation with all staff, consultants, and contractors.  Ensure adherence to the project budget, forecasts, and reporting cadences.  Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

 

Accredited post-secondary education (a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Electrical/ Chemical/Mining or related field) required   Two (2) years practical experience in a leadership role, preferably in a position in the open pit mining environment required Five (5) years practical experience in mine operations preferred Autonomous systems or operational FMS experience preferred Demonstrated safety leadership capability for both self and team required Excellent leadership, people, and communication skills to act as a “Change Agent” when required Exhibit outstanding verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and analytical skills required Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project required  Proficient with emerging technology adoption preferred; and  Systems experience preferred  Ability to maintain a high standard of working ethics required
