ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The company is seeking a highly driven, experienced cost accountant responsible for variance analysis and daily collaboration with the operation's management team and production staff to support continuous improvement and execute business strategy, analyzing manufacturing costs and comparing standard to actual production costs, maintaining and analyzing manufacturing data related to inventory, assisting with forecasts and budgets, as well as analyzing profit margins for financial reporting and pricing decisions. This role requires a professional with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work closely with different departments. The successful candidate should possess high-level analytical skills, excel at multitasking, and maintain a high level of accuracy in their work.


Verifies manufacturing costs and cost of goods sold for accuracy.Analyzes variances in manufacturing costs, gross margins, inventory levels, and expenditures. Understand root causes and drive corrective actions to improve business processes.Evaluates labor and overhead expenses to update standard costing models regularly and ensures alignment with actual production costs.Review bills of materials and labor routings to assure costing accuracy.Calculates costs for new and proposed products working closely with R&D personnel.Maintains applicable ERP cost system modulesAssist plant management with cost savings/profit improvement programs. Establish savings tracking models. Support strategic initiatives and projects with financial insights.Share best practices with other team members. Occasionally, serve as a back-up when individuals are on vacation or absent. Cross train others as needed. Attend regular group meetings.Gathers cost data to aid in the creation of forecasts and budgets.Leads financial operations in inventory management by developing and improving control policies, procedures, methods and systems.Develops and maintains a weekly reporting framework consisting of inventory trends, absorption analysis, utilization, efficiency & productivity metrics.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or similar field.Proven experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant or similar role, preferably within the manufacturing sector.Understanding of bill of materials, manufacturing routers, and process improvement manufacturing concepts.Knowledge of cost accounting principles. Skilled at identifying, measuring, evaluating and improving, if needed, the effectiveness of accounting, managerial, financial and operational controls.Maintains professionalism and reacts well under pressure. Ability to work both independently as well as collaborate with a team.Microsoft Office including proficiency with Excel and experience with ERP systems.
