Position Summary:
The Cost Accountant will work under moderate supervision and be responsible for weekly reports and account analyses, month-end closing activities, periodic standard cost rolls, and inventory account reconciliations
ResponsibilitiesKey Accountabilities
• Analyze GL accounts and prepare weekly activity reports, e.g., work order variance report, PPV report, scrap tracking report, etc.
• Review work order closures, analyze work order variances and work with Ops team to resolve
significant variances
• Analyze cost center expenses compared to budget throughout each month, and record correcting journal entries, when necessary
• Assist in analyzing monthly/quarterly product costing results and variances.
• Assist in creation of weekly high-level Manufacturing P&L “flash reports” for Operations
Senior Staff
• Prepare journal entries and inventory account reconciliations
• Participate in annual cost roll process, to include working with Supply Chain team on material costs as well as working within ERP system to run several cost simulations prior to annual roll
• Assist with special projects, as needed
Networking/Key relationships
Works closely with all Operations, Manufacturing & QC to support company objectives and day-to-day operations.
Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in cost accounting or related fields
• Experience with product cost/cost accounting, general accounting, and budgeting activities
Skills & Capabilities:
• Solid working knowledge of financial concepts, theory, and generally accepted ac- counting principles (GAAP)
• Experience with large enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, preferably SAP
• Advanced knowledge of Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Ability to provide accurate and meaningful data
• Ability to research GL account activity
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
