Position

SAS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Finance Department as a Cost Accountant.  This is an opportunity for an analytical individual that possesses self-discipline, excellent people skills and the ability to deal with confidential material. 

 

Job Responsibilities

Assist the Controller in all aspects of the daily, monthly and annual cost/inventory accounting functions.Responsible for period-end reporting, inventory accuracy and valuation.Assist the Controller in generating daily, monthly inventory reporting schedules, trends and significant fluctuations in inventory.Performs annual cost roll and inventory revaluation. Works with purchasing and operations management to enhance accuracy of cost components. Calculate and analyze costs of manufactured goodsReport cost and variance trends; researching significant variations and recommending appropriate response.Audit and report on the overall inventory operational processes (factory, warehouse and retail) identifying inefficiencies, risks and trends impacting inventory Recommend controls and procedures to improve the inventory process, decrease inventory adjustments.Reconcile and analyze produced units vs. warehouse receipt daily, weekly and period-end.Compile data from sources such as production systems, ERP, and POS systems.Compare perpetual inventories to physical analyzing factory production system, in transit (between factories and factories to warehouse) warehouse receipt and retail store shipments.Conduct regular inventory counts, i.e., cycle counts, period-end and year-end physical inventory.  Record count results and discrepancies.        Communicate count results to controller/management.Compare retail store inventory receipts, sales, transfers, and returns to perpetual inventory to minimize retail store gain and loss.Identifying critical risks inherent within the processes and operating systems to ensure there are robust internal controls to ensure the safeguarding of SAS’s inventory and accurate reporting of results.Ensure the physical security of stock by communicating to associate established inventory control guidelines and procedures and work with management to implement these procedures.Develop and document processes that enhance inventory flow, transparency and best practice.Supports and assist finance, factory, and warehouse with special projects.


 Job Qualifications 

Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting, inventory control principles, and ERP systems.Experience working with large databases.Exceptional attention to detail; high level of accuracyExcellent oral and written communication skillsInterpersonal skills sufficient to engage with management to exchange information, influence and persuadeProficient skills required in solid problem-solving, analytics, planning, organization, time management, and analysisStrong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically ExcelKnowledge of Microsoft Dynamics D365/ERP a plus but not requiredAbility to work independently and within cross-functional team(s) in a fast-paced, high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timelinessAbility to maintain confidential information and ability to work with deadlinesFlexible, strategic team player with infallible integrity and ethical standardsStrives for high performance and uses technical skills effectively with a demonstrated emphasis to detail and accuracy. Ability to multi-task, and work in an organized, detailed manner under limited time frames & tight deadlines.


 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift 20 lbsMust be able to sit or stand for 8 – 10 hours.Manual dexterity and coordination  

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.  Two to five years of Cost Accounting.Experience with D365/ERP systems a plus.Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookups, etc.)
