Description Robert Half is looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to partner with one our retail logistics clients in Sacramento. The cost accountant will be responsible for analyzing and providing accurate information on our product costs to aid management in decision making and financial planning. Responsibilities: • Administer comprehensive tracking of all inventory receipts and accurately input item costs in the system • Conduct a thorough analysis of the average cost of items and make the necessary cost adjustments when required. • Assist in preparing, analyzing and reporting gross margin analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis, focusing on brand by item • Keep busy with the process of month-end closure, arrange necessary journal entries, and evaluate inventory • Collaborate with the IT department to fix system issues and to take care of maintenance and development needs pertaining to production, purchasing, import/export, accounts receivable and payable, receiving, shipping, and others • Analyze cost accounting data and provide assistance during cycle count/physical inventories • Envelope the role of maintaining internal control documentation and ensuring internal controls are tested • Diligently analyze and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, and liability accounts according to entity and site locations • Devote time to analyze inventory and margin reports, perform research, and carry out analytical studies related to cost analyses and profitability • Take the initiative to participate in special projects as necessary • Offer assistance in fulfilling internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and more • Look after the Item list in the system and craft a new item when required • Guarantee prompt submission and accuracy of inventory reports, and the validity of said reports. Requirements Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 3 or more years of related experience • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards • Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis • Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves • Strong organizational and communication skills • Detail oriented • Knowledge of QuickBooks preferred • Multilocation retail consumer goods background preferred • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
