Hire Resolve client is seeking a Cost Accountant to join the finance department, reporting to the Continuous Improvements team. The role is pivotal in supporting operations by providing critical financial insights that will drive profitability, operational efficiency, and effective cost control. The Cost Accountant will play a key role in identifying and implementing system improvements, ensuring robust controls, and delivering value-adding reports to aid decision-making.
Key Responsibilities: Allocate labour and overhead costs to jobs accurately. Review and close jobs by investigating variances and implementing corrective actions. Regularly review and update Bills of Materials (BOMs). Ensure accurate inventory valuation by maintaining raw material standard costs, including landed cost calculations for imports. Review and analyze standard cost variances and purchase price variances. Perform product costings on a customer-by-customer basis. Implement and manage a robust costing system with insightful reporting and actionable recommendations. Monitor and update labour and overhead allocations to products. Review labour and overhead recovery rates to ensure alignment with actuals. Analyze material usage and waste, recommending and driving corrective actions. Approve inventory count results and investigate discrepancies. Ensure the accuracy of inventory-related transactions and address queries. Establish strong inventory controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy. Conduct margin and cost analyses to identify profitability improvement opportunities. Build and maintain reports to guide product mix decisions. Perform financial modeling to support strategic decision-making. Prepare reports and data for business presentations. Assist with compiling annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Provide user support for accounting systems and maintain master data integrity. Drive and implement system improvements and special projects. Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide staff training on implemented systems. Requirements: CIMA qualification. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cost accounting role. Proven experience in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to import and export operations. Familiarity with standard costing and job costing principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Effective written and verbal communication, with strong collaboration abilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Adaptability to fast-paced and ever-changing environments. Proficiency in Syspro or similar accounting software. Demonstrated experience in implementing a costing system. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to drive projects and collaborate effectively.
