Cost Accountant IIThe Cost Accountant II position is responsible for monitoring, collecting, updating, analyzing, summarizing and evaluating cost related information. This position assists management decision making by continuous improvement of cost management processes and models to support margin analysis.Essential Functions
Responsibilities:
Assist with the monthly financial close process and ensure the accuracy of system generated transactions and manual entriesPrepare journal entries and account reconciliations to assist in the month-end close processAnalyze inventory variances by location, product category, etc.Monitor, analyze and report on cost trends of inventory and raw materials to interpret overall cost of goods sold and margin variationsPerform heavy data manipulation within Excel and AccessAid in the preparation of various month-end/year-end reports and schedules including inventory reconciliations, journal entries, cost of goods sold analysis, inventory on hand reports, etc.Review monthly inventory detail to identify excess/obsolete items and record related journal entries (i.e. maintain E&O reserve)Compile, analyze and communicate monthly scrap and shrinkage results by plant and identify areas for scrap reductionReview/compare various inventory reports to identify discrepancies and make proper recommendationsReview existing processes, tools and controls for opportunities to improve effectiveness and to transfer best practices across the organization and change them accordinglyInteract with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and other departments to better understand their needs and to be proactive and resolve issues in a timely mannerMaintain clean documentation and supporting data for each completed taskProvide full support during company financial auditsPerform various ad hoc analyses to support cross-functional teams including finance, accounting, purchasing, manufacturing, etc.Please note this job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
