Cost Analyst

This position will conduct research, analysis and provide recommendations for component cost reviews, commodity tracking and forward buy opportunities.   Expected to champion cost reduction strategies for White River Marine Group.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Analyze spend categories and part price variances to identify outliers and cost reduction opportunities.Monitor and analyze economic indicators, identify market trends, and provide clear data driven recommendations for procurement decision-making.Develop and prepare reports or other exhibits to support business initiatives.Report on supplier performance and financial health.Prepare analysis to support raw material forward buy or hedge opportunities.Prepare make vs buy evaluations.Create should-cost models.Participate in various project teams and department initiatives.All other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Degree Required:   Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline, or equivalent related work experienceStrong financial acumenStrong analytical skills, proficient in data mining and forecasting model developmentStrong verbal and written communication and presentation skillsExperience with business intelligence or cloud services such as Power BI, Domo, Snowflake etcExperience or desire to learn programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, etcExperience with cost modeling softwareAbility to collaborate and develop effective business relationships at all levels of an organizationAbility to manage multiple tasks and prioritize within a fast-paced environmentStrong sense of ownership and accountabilityComprehensive proficiency in Excel, with the ability to quickly learn other business systemsAbility to meet deadlines while delivering quality results; accuracy is a must

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Less than 10% travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly performs computer work and sits.Occasionally walks and stands.Seldom/never lifts up to 50lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
