Cost Analyst
Job Title: Cost Accountant Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in cost accounting, cost analysis, and data management, and will be responsible for calculating and assessing the costs of individual products and external services. This role involves collaborating with manufacturing teams to establish and monitor standard cost benchmarks, analyzing variances, and preparing detailed financial reports. Responsibilities + Calculate and assess the costs of individual products and external services by analyzing direct labor, materials, and overhead. + Collaborate with manufacturing teams to establish and monitor standard cost benchmarks for production processes. + Review cost discrepancies on a monthly basis, analyze variances between standard and actual costs, and provide explanations and recommendations for corrective actions. + Prepare and present monthly financial reports that compare department expenses with budgeted figures, and meet with departmental leadership to discuss outcomes. + Analyze complex bills of materials and routings, up to seven levels deep, to determine standard costs and track cost changes. + Use data analysis techniques to uncover opportunities for improving production efficiency, reducing costs, and eliminating inefficiencies. + Oversee physical inventory management and ensure the cycle count program is properly executed. + Reconcile finished goods inventory monthly to ensure accurate records. + Ensure timely and accurate submission of inventory data, gross margin reports, and related schedules to management. + Maintain and enforce internal controls in cost accounting to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with company policies. + Support various special projects as needed. + Assist with internal reporting requirements, including audit schedules, tax documentation, and other departmental needs. Essential Skills + Cost accounting + Cost analysis + Understanding of bills of materials (BOMs) and routings + Variance analysis + Physical inventory management + Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and vlookups + Data analysis and management Additional Skills & Qualifications + Familiarity with ERP systems + Experience using a BI tool is preferred but not required + 3+ years of relevant experience preferred Work Environment This is a fully onsite position. The candidate will need to walk the production floors to complete physical inventory and will be seated in a corporate office next to production. The corporate office has about 15 people.
