What Is the Opportunity

Aecon’s Civil East division is hiring a Cost Control Manager to join our dynamic integrated operational controls team in our Toronto head office.

 

What You'll Do Here

Prepares Project Controls plans, and detailed manpower utilization plans for discipline or specialty activities Assists with contract management and payments Develops, or assists in the development of, quantity bases for the assumption Performs, or coordinates the performance of, pricing structure development and application to takeoffs, derived quantities, quantity assumption, and cost allowances within a discipline or other specialty Plans, coordinates, and directs the preparation of specific budgets Assists in developing requirements for budgeting standards Develops and implements requirements for forecasting, cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards, and reports Performs performance monitoring and control functions Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions Investigates requirements for estimating and/or cost control data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications Identifies or defines data sources and techniques for data acquisition and collects required data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications Responsible for setting-up of project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit) Ensure all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc.) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeout Monitor project performance and ensure that the project control system is properly implemented Generate all required project status reports for internal management and for the customer, including the overall project Dashboard, project performance report (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, etc.) Performs data analysis, identifies problems, and makes recommendations Creates and implements measurement systems for given processes, analyzes performance metric results, and identifies improvements

 

What You Bring to the Team 

7-10 years minimum of Cost Control experience in construction Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes and an understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls (including Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data) Accreditation from AACEI or CIQS is an asset College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience Applied knowledge of Project Management and Cost Controls principles is an asset Applied knowledge of the "Earned Value" principles is an asset Ability to produce, read and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports an asset P6 experience is an asset Applied knowledge of cost engineering/cost control is an asset Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure worksite environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge Detail-oriented Must be able to travel to projects Must possess a valid G driver's license and have access to a vehicle
