Cost Data Engineering Manager

Gordian’s Construction Task Catalogue (CTC) Data team sits at the front line of critical cost engineering initiatives supporting Gordian’s procurement data products. In the process of developing Construction Task Catalogs, Cost Engineers are responsible for gathering information from construction documents about construction materials, equipment, and labor through phone interaction as well as research from existing and developed sources across the country. They will need to enter the acquired data into our database, and be extremely accurate with details including rate, start dates, sources, and integrate this data with other relevant engineered information. In this role, Cost Engineers also support current and future clients from initial contact through fulfillment phases of JOC projects.

The Cost Data Engineering Manager is the guiding hand leading this cost engineering function. They will defend and uphold the Gordian standards, by which all deliverable data is developed for planning, estimating, and procurement. The CTC Data Manager provides mentoring, standards, consistency and leadership to the engineering staff in the development of Construction Task Catalogs and Specifications.  They will lead special projects and professional development of research and engineering staff.  They will support the successful delivery of CTCs, completion of consulting projects and continued growth of the Gordian brand by enhancing the market messaging and potentially representing Gordian at appropriate external industry events. 

Gordian’s CTC Data team is in a high growth phase and looking for a team leader willing to nurture growth and development across multiple teams while maintaining on-time delivery and high data quality standards for CTCs and all supplemental data products. 

 

Responsibilities:

Provide the overall project direction, completion of developing, maintaining and administering construction related data in Gordian’s data offerings Mentor and grow a team comprised of engineers, architects, program managers, and researchers  Prioritize projects and manage team goals to ensure on-time-delivery of projects to client specifications Manage projects and people with an understanding when to escalate issues Work effectively in a matrixed organization and the ability to communicate clearly across the organization Work directly with clients and internal resources to support special projects developing new construction tasks and procurement items Provide customer support for internal and external customers Effectively apply technical knowledge to solve a range of problems Consistently consider new ideas and methodologies, implement complete solutions, and serve as a go-to for problem solving assistance for others Regularly review and validate data accuracy and implement/influence processes to improve on that on a continuous basis

 
 Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or Architecture 7+ years of background in construction procurement with an understanding of construction materials are, how they are used, and how they are installed as well as a familiarity with construction standards, codes, and laws (OSHA, Building Codes, Etc.) Strong working knowledge of Gordian’s Procurement data and software products (DMAP, CCDMAP, eGordian, and JOC Cloud) required, as well as strong skills with Microsoft Office tools Experience with direct management and leadership of a diverse team of 8-10 people Experience communicating across an organization with strong written and verbal communication skills  Ideal candidate will have construction industry managing different phases in construction lifecycle such as pre-construction, planning, pre and post award/ bid phase, design, estimation, project management etc.  Cost certification by ASPE or AACE is preferred but not required Exceptional attention to detail, the ability to track data quality and results Proven problem-solving skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively The ability to manage multiple ongoing projects, achieve deadlines effectively and the knowledge of when to escalate issues Excellent communication skills, and a desire to develop relationships with vendors and other procurement-related participants (owners, contractors, co-ops) Able to travel up to 20%
