What would you do as our Cost Engineer 

  

This role is going to play a key function in our Division globally. You would act as an expert in electronic product design, advising on manufacturing engineering, manufacturability and costs. 

You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining product cost database, providing accurate cost estimations (EE, ME, MVA, Labour etc.) at all stages of GW process supporting SR NPI projects, ensuring that product cost targets are achieved. You will also determine manufacturing strategies and create product costing of electronics designs based on optimum serial and volume manufacturing effects. Your role will be to drive faster learning curve effects and cost down. 

 

  

You would also:  

Stay up-to-date with electronic vendor components market costs word wide and maintain contact with vendors and suppliers  Support R&D with cost specialist knowledge when evaluating and selecting technical concepts, coordinate functional input into engineering product cost estimations and calculations during early designs and throughout Gateway process  Throughout the entire design lifecycle work closely with suppliers and contract electronic manufacturers (CEMs) to define transparent costed BOMs and to help purchasing functions to drive down Cost of Goods (electronic components, PCBA’s, housings, assembly)  Be responsible for defining of Manufacturing Process Flows for Manufacturability & Product Cost calculations during design  Maintain contact with Commercial, Purchasing, Logistics, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and acting as a link between all of these Business Areas 

  
The skills and experience you need   
We are looking for someone who:   

 

Has an educational background in Electronics manufacturing or similar  Has significant hands-on experience within a Cost Engineer role in a manufacturing industry   Has knowledge of vendor components, commercial of the shelf components and life cycle management of these component, and has previously supported design teams, supplier account teams and collaborated with suppliers Understands supplier and supply chain manufacturing capabilities and preferable their financial value stream and costs Has excellent analytical and simulation skills for our product costs and supplier Factory Standard Cost scenario’s
