Position Summary

Plug Power Inc. is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Cost Engineering Intern to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to assist in conducting "What If" cost analysis for various product development variables, including down-selected bills of materials (BOMs), material processing constraints, automation technologies, and environmental factors. This hands-on internship will provide valuable exposure to real-world cost engineering practices and allow you to work closely with professionals across multiple departments, including engineering, operations, procurement, and finance.

As a Cost Engineering Intern, you will support senior engineers in developing cost models, analyzing the financial impact of various production scenarios, and contributing to the optimization of product development processes. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in cost analysis, product development, and manufacturing cost management.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in "What If" Analysis: Support the team in conducting "What If" scenario analyses to evaluate the cost implications of changes in product design, materials, and manufacturing processes.Cost Modeling Support: Help build and maintain cost models based on bills of materials (BOMs), production processes, material constraints, and automation levels.Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and analyze data on material costs, production constraints, and environmental factors to support cost analysis efforts.Collaboration: Work alongside engineers and other team members to understand product requirements, processes, and cost drivers, contributing to cost optimization discussions.Documentation & Reporting: Assist in preparing cost reports and presenting analysis results to senior engineers and management.Tool & Process Improvement: Contribute to the enhancement of cost estimation tools and the continuous improvement of cost analysis methodologies.

Education and Qualification

Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.Technical Skills:Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).Familiarity with data analysis or cost estimation software is a plusAnalytical Thinking: Ability to approach complex problems with a methodical and analytical mindset.Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data in a clear and concise manner.Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, interacting effectively with colleagues across departments.Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.Must have reliable transportation to the officeExcellent follow-through Must be driven and self-motivated
