Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a CPM Scheduler and Cost Estimator to join our dynamic and rapidly expanding construction management team within our Resilience Water Business in Arlington, Virginia or Hanover, Maryland. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country.
Role accountabilities:
This position will support our clients and our project teams with CPM scheduling and cost estimating services from the design phase through construction phase on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water, wastewater and heavy construction projects. In this role, you will provide various types of cost estimates, perform CPM scheduling analysis and reports, perform onsite inspection services and provide support to our construction management project teams as needed.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
CPM Scheduling services:
You will develop Master, Design, and Construction CPM schedules based on the project documents. This includes utilizing scheduling software such as Oracle Primavera P6 and MS Project. In addition, analyze contractor's CPM schedule submittals and provide reports based on our findings. You may track and report on the planned versus actual schedule and construction performance. Creating CPM schedule reports and graphics using Primavera P6 are also part of this role. You will review and present CPM schedule reviews to the project team, which includes the client, designer, and contractor. Lastly, you will perform Time Impact Analysis (TIA) to assess the impact of changes on the project schedule
Cost Estimating services:
Responsibilities include performing cost estimates for projects at various stages, starting from conceptual design through bid documents. This will involve estimating costs for civil, structural, architectural, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical disciplines. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing cost estimates for construction change orders and supporting negotiations.
To ensure accuracy, you will perform cost validation and quantity surveying as needed. It will also be your responsibility to track and monitor market conditions for materials and equipment, ensuring that cost estimates align with current market rates. You will have the opportunity to develop cost estimate templates using Excel or utilize provided cost estimating software.
As part of your role, you will develop and provide comprehensive cost estimate reports, including the basis of costs, assumptions, and risks. These reports will form the foundation for decision-making regarding project budgets and financial planning. Finally, you will have the opportunity to present cost estimates and reports to clients, effectively communicating the estimated costs and providing any necessary clarification or recommendations
Inspection services:
Provide part time as needed inspection services on our projects as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
2 years of relevant construction and project controls experience. Preferred civil/utility project type experience. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Construction Management) or equivalent work experience Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems, along with a high level of math aptitude, in addition to strong verbale and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task several priorities and possess solid time management skills. Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint and Outlook). Proficient in Oracle Primavera P6 scheduling software. Position could require local travel in the DC Metro and Virgina area to offices and project sites. Travel could also include to other office locations throughout the US on a part time basis.Preferred Qualifications
5 years of construction and project control controls experience. Experience in cost estimating software, BIM and other modeling software. Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) certification of a Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP). We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $62,120 - $99,392/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
