Cost Manager - Construction Projects

Role description:

Arcadis is looking to hire a Quantity Surveyor to carry out a Cost Manager role supporting the Project and Program Management team in the North American Places business within our Philadelphia, PA office location. 

As a Cost Manager, you will assist with Project cost and commercial activities (Cost & Commercial management, Contract Administration, Change Management, Schedule Reviews & Risk Management) during the design and construction phases of capital projects working directly with the project management team and other supporting staff for a world-class pharmaceutical client. 

Role accountabilities:

•    Provide support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle
•    Provide project level reports including detailed analysis of project cost and changes
•    Support the Project Management team in reporting current months Work In Place and future forecasts
•    Maintaining and controlling project budgets from design concept through to project completion
•    Assisting with control of total project costs (direct and indirect costs)
•    Performing regular project health checks to ensure they remain within budget
•    Supporting change management activities including project change requests and updating project change control logs
•    Execute change processes, including RFA / RFI Submittal Log updates, and assure alignment with budget, schedule, or risk impacts
•    Completing cost validation and quantity surveying on an as needed basis
•    Reconciling program and project controls data with the client’s fiscal and financial control systems
•    Carrying out cost data analysis and presenting results of analysis to senior staff and clients
•    Conduct monthly audits of invoices and Purchase Orders on behalf of the Project Manager
•    Support the Project Manager with all aspects of the bidding process, including RFP preparation and analysis of bids
•    Provide procurement support to the project managers ensuring all documentation is in place and processes are adhered to, remaining compliant and transparent 

Desired skills and experience:
•    Excellent written and oral communications skills required as well as the ability to interact with staff at all levels
•    Understanding of construction means and methodology
•    Ability to read and understand design information
•    Experience using cost and scheduling software including Primavera P6 & SAP
•    Ability to travel up to clients offices within the region as a hybrid role [60%] 

Qualifications & Experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree in a relevant cost and commercial discipline (Construction Management, Quantity Surveying) or equivalent work experience
•    5+ years of relevant experience
 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Professional license or working towards a professional license (RICS, CCM, AACE)

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
