Manages commodity-specific value and cost optimization programs as technical expert.

This can be a remote-based opportunity

* Cost Value Engineer (CVE) responsibility analyzing cost and value for plastic commodity, both high volume consumable plastic and low volume instrument plastic, including high-level assembly (HLA) and any secondary processes in manufacturing for final component/assembly.

* Cost Value Engineer (CVE) responsibility analyzing cost and value for reagent commodity.

* Supporting supplier negotiation in tandem with global/local commodity managers.

* Establishing knowledge sharing/exchange community between crossed functional partners (PLM, Procurement Engineers, and Commodity Managers) to improve our products regarding to Design-for-X (Design for Quality, Cost, Manufacturing, etc.) in both plastic and reagent commodities.

* Effectively integrate the SHS activities with Siemens AG Commodity Engineer and SAG CVE to represent the SHS interest.

* Contributes to the development of the value and cost optimization strategy, identifying internal and external best practices, proving pilots of innovative approaches.

Areas of Responsibility

* Plastic commodity expert – Provide expert analysis for cost and value for plastic component, plastic high-level assembly to support supplier negotiation and new product target costing.

* Reagent commodity expert – Provide expert analysis for cost and value for reagent commodity to support supplier negotiation.

* BA/BL key account – Provide project updates to BA/BL, key contact for new projects, escalation path to resolve roadblocks.

* Technical expert – Host/facilitate technical workshop (Design to X) with crossed functional partners to improve product quality and cost.

Additional Qualifications:

* Technical background in plastics category and/or reagent at a large multi-national medical device company. 

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related in engineering field required. Advanced degree preferred.

* 10+ years of engineering and/or strategic procurement, supply chain management and sourcing experience with increasing global responsibility in a large matrixed organization.

* International travel experience, intercultural management skills and a willingness to travel domestically and overseas, 20% of the time.
