Energizer is seeking an experienced and motivated Counsel – Litigation & Competition, to join the Legal Department, reporting to the Associate General Counsel – Global Commercial Operations, Marketing & Trademarks. Responsibilities This role will be responsible for actively and strategically managing the company’s litigation efforts. As a key business partner, this position will contribute to the success of Energizer by leveraging both legal and business expertise to support the Company’s operations and strategic goals. The attorney in this role will be expected to work effectively across both legal and non-legal functions within the organization. This position requires a mature professional who will relentlessly advocate on behalf of the Company, providing practical legal advice that aligns with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach, demonstrating a willingness and ability to take on significant responsibilities within the department. While the primary focus will be on litigation matters, this role will also assist in other areas, including antitrust counseling, as needed. Specific responsibilities include: Strategically directing and managing the Company’s global litigation. This attorney will be expected to take a hands-on approach to all aspects of the Company’s litigation, including meticulous attention to detail and ensuring alignment with the Company’s business objectives and legal standards. Providing hands-on legal support. This attorney will be expected to actively engage with the Company’s commercial, category, and functional teams to understand their operations and provide strategic legal counseling that is deeply rooted in business realities and objectives. The role will provide day-to-day counseling for Energizer’s consumer and customer care teams, as well as other functions globally, to manage disputes effectively and implement proactive measures to prevent litigation. Business integration and relationships with key stakeholders. This attorney will be expected to develop a deep understanding of the Company’s business in order to offer informed and practical legal advice that supports the Company’s goals and mitigates risks. It will be essential for this role to build strong relationships with key business stakeholders and ensure those stakeholders are informed of, and involved in, litigation strategies and decision-making. Developing, maintaining, and updating policies and training. This attorney will be expected to create and regularly update policies and training programs regarding legal matters (e.g., antitrust, competition and commercial issues) and the Company’s records to ensure compliance and best practices. Staying updated on trends in both litigation and competition law. This attorney will be expected to monitor trends and major decisions in both litigation and competition law, advising on their potential impact on the Company’s businesses. Managing outside counsel and budgets. This attorney will be expected to oversee the selection, management, and budgeting of outside counsel to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal services. Collaborating on cross-functional initiatives. This attorney will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with other members of the Legal Department and Company at large on cross-functional initiatives to support the Company’s overall strategy and objectives. What we are looking for Juris Doctorate Member in good standing of at least one state bar 7+ years relevant experience at a large law firm or as in-house counsel in a similar capacity Ability to resolve ambiguities and provide legal guidance in uncertain situations Ability to make solid judgment calls under pressure Strong written and oral communication skills Strong leadership and negotiation skills Self-starter, exceptional project management skills, and proven ability to drive process changes Ability to build positive relationships with senior management and other members of the legal team and to influence outcomes positively Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with minimal guidance and direction Global mindset and ability to work virtually with business colleagues across the globe Competition & Antitrust Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience Regulatory Prior in-house experience Reports to the Associate General Counsel Key relationships internally will include attorneys, paralegals, and functional leaders Come join us!
