Zonda is looking for a passionate attorney to help evolve and expand our legal team. Zonda looks for people who can grow, think, dream, and create. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Counsel will play a pivotal role in providing legal guidance, support, and strategic direction to our organization. The ideal candidate will have in-house experience with contract review, negotiation, compliance, and working closely with cross-functional teams. This position may be remote or hybrid, depending on your proximity to one of our head offices in California and Texas. Travel for on-site meetings may be required.
What You’ll Do
Contract Management:Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including customer agreements, vendor contracts, and licensing agreements. Ensure that all contracts align with legal and regulatory requirements and protect the interests of Zonda Home. Develop and maintain contracting operating procedures and best practices.Client Communication, Support and Retention:Identify potential legal issues affecting client relationships and work proactively to resolve them.Effectively communicate and deliver difficult decisions to clients when necessary, maintaining professionalism and clarity. Ensure that clients understand the rationale behind such decisions and the legal or regulatory factors that may necessitate them.
Product CounselingAdvise cross-functional teams on product design and compliance. Monitor changes in the law that might require product updates and work with internal teams to ensure timely updates.
Data Licensing and SaaS Products:Provide legal guidance and expertise in data licensing agreements and SaaS product offerings.Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) in all aspects of our operations including US, UK, Canada and India.
Regulatory Compliance:Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and legal developments that may impact the company.Assist with developing and implementing compliance programs to mitigate legal risks.
Legal Advisory:Provide legal advice and counsel to various departments within the organization.Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making process.Review contracts post-acquisition for appropriate assignment and change of control notices.

Who You Are
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in a state bar association. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of legal experience, with 1-2 years of experience in an in-house counsel role with a strong emphasis on contract review and negotiation. Experience working with data licensing agreements and SaaS products.Experience advising clients on regulatory requirements and compliance.Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Strong communication and negotiation skills.Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Experience working remotely with a highly connected team. Knowledge of real estate regulations and with at least one of the following areas of law is helpful but not required: contract law (technology license agreements, data license agreements, MSAs, Service Agreements); US, Canadian, and EU privacy law (CCPA, GDPR, PIPEDA); consumer protection laws (TILA, ECOA, FCRA, FDCPA, EFTA); advertising law (FTC, TCPA); emerging AI law and regulations.Even if you don’t have exactly what we’re looking for we encourage you to apply if you think you would be a great fit.Why People Love Working Here
