Counsel II - Commercial and Technology Contracts (HYBRID)

GEICO is seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented legal professional to serve as Counsel supporting GEICO’s commercial and technology contracting needs.  You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial and technology contracts that support GEICO’s strategic lines of business, such as technology vendor agreements, marketing and advertising agreements, strategic partnerships, and new product offerings involving cutting edge technology.  You will directly report to the Senior Director, Commercial and Technology Contracts in the Legal Department and be a part of a growing and innovative legal team.

Essential Functions:

Draft, negotiate and advise on complex agreements relating to marketing, technology procurement, licensing, alliance and partnership arrangements and other general purpose commercial agreements. 

Effectively collaborate cross-functionally with the entire Legal Department and other members of corporate functions including finance, HR, marketing, as necessary.

Provide strategic business and legal advice to cultivate trusted relationships with business stakeholders and other key partners. 

Manage numerous projects autonomously and under time-sensitive situations with an ability to make sound and quick judgment calls while incorporating the help of subject matter experts or legal leadership as appropriate. 

Demonstrate customer-centric focus and responsiveness to drive successful business outcomes.

Requirements:

4+ years of commercial legal experience.

J.D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state (or D.C.) bar.

Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.

Experience managing deals on tight deadlines.

Sound legal judgment and problem solving skills.

Hybrid: Requirement 3 days a week in office.

Annual Salary

$148,000.00 - $230,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
