Counselor

This is a non-exempt position working 30-40 hours per week. The ideal schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday, 8 am - 6 pm. This position may have some schedule flexibility.

The Counselor will assists in the habilitation / rehabilitation of children, adults with disabilities and their families by providing supportive counseling services. The Counselor utilizes various treatment modalities in providing group and individual treatment services to clients in need of behavioral health services, their families and significant others, in an atmosphere sensitive to each person's physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Counselor uses professional and clinical judgment for initial and ongoing assessment, treatment planning, specialized trauma care and discharge planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete comprehensive assessments including risk and trauma.Provide office-based individual and conjoint therapy, utilizing evidence-based treatment models with the clients we serve.Develop strengths-based individualized plans of care.Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team (family, referral sources and other providers) that values cultural competency and practices trauma-informed care.Use professional and clinical judgment for initial and ongoing assessment, treatment planning, specialized trauma care and discharge planning.Practice within the scope of department policies and procedures, including within the scope of state statues and licensure, and within accepted professional standards of conduct and performance.Document client data accurately and completely in accordance with documentation guidelines.Prepare billing logs with appropriate billing codes for processing.Participate in continuing education to keep informed of new procedures / techniques / programs in the field of rehabilitation and social work as necessary to maintain licensure and / or specialized certifications. Complete all agency mandatory in-services and competency testing annually. Attend meetings, in-service training, and other community related activities as assigned.Provide supervision and training for students in Masters-level Counseling programs from the universities where contractual agreements exist

Requirements
