The candidate will be housed in the Wellbeing Center and embedded with the Athletic Department to provide specialized support. The role involves delivering comprehensive counseling to NMU students with partial provision of services dedicated to student athletes. Responsibilities are those of a professional university counseling center clinician and include individual and group therapy, assessment, outreach programming and consultation using a brief therapy model. This is a campus- based position. Minimum Qualifications Required Education:Master's Degree Discipline / Degree Area:Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work or Professional Counseling Required Specialized Training/Certifications:Licensed as a mental health professional in the State of Michigan or must obtain Michigan Licensure within three months of hire date. Required Minimum Work Experience:A minimum of three years licensed clinical experience. Experience in conducting short-term psychotherapy with a diverse population including co-occurring assessments, consultations, group therapy, outreach/prevention services, and writing timely psychological notes and reports. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:-Knowledge and practice of state and federal mental health laws (such as HIPPA, 42CFR, and FERPA) and professional codes of conduct. -Demonstrates exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication. -Ability to establish and maintain psychoeducational programming for key University stakeholders. -Strong analytical and conceptual skills. -Knowledge and understanding of college student developmental tasks and issues. -Ability to provide effective crisis evaluation, intervention, and safety planning. -Ability to deliver presentations or training on mental health topics. -Ability to relate to students and the public in a friendly, supportive, and respectful manner. -Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team and make appropriate case management referrals to campus and community partners. -Manage a caseload of outpatient students as assigned.
