If you would like to join us on our mission, apply today! **Position Highlights** POSITION SUMMARY: Furnishes diagnostic, assessment, preventative and therapeutic services to promote the mental health of Regional Health Services of Howard County patients and community. He/she acts as a resource to physicians, hospital staff and the community in developing awareness of psychological principles, which might be helpful in working with individuals and groups. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DETAILED DUTIES: Within the limits of training provides and documents psychological testing services including assessment of intellectual functioning, personality testing, and neuropsychological testing. Uses Clinic EMR or other documentation systems as directed. Development and implementation of psychiatric social work assessments, treatment and discharge plans. Communicates plans with other members of the treatment team. Evaluates families or individuals as to appropriateness for involvement in various psychotherapeutic activities and documents recommendations. Within limits of training, provides individual, family, marital, or group psychotherapy as requested. Develops and documents treatment plans that are age appropriate and which are relevant to diagnosis and consider individual patient needs including cultural and gender factors. Maintains detailed record of services performed and length of services to facilitate accurate charging. Contacts managed care companies and other third party payors as necessary to preauthorize services and to develop feasible treatment/evaluation plans. Supervision by a psychiatrist or psychiatric Physicians Assistant or Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner where patient care is discussed. Attends routine patient care staffing and other team meetings, assists with coordination of care and serves as a resource to RHS staff in working with patient and/or family behavioral problems and in making referrals to community agencies. Participates in Process Improvement activities as team member or leader. Presents in-service training (within and outside department), community education, and continuing education programs. Maintains licensure and enhances competencies by participating in continuing education activities in areas identified by self and VP as valuable to the functioning of the overall department. Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments. Supports and abides by all medical center, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment. Required training includes a masters or doctoral degree in social work, clinical social worker. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) from graduate program approved by the American Psychological Association is preferred. Licensed or license eligible to provide psychological care in Iowa. Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association) via current card prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status. Experience: One year of experience with demonstrated competence in providing evaluation and psychotherapy services is preferred. Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes: Must be able to demonstrate competence in the ability to develop rapport and consult with all levels of medical and health center staff. Must be able to demonstrate ongoing competence in maintaining strict confidentiality of highly sensitive information. Displays competence with high level socialization skills and the ability to interact appropriately with staff and wide range of clientele under stressful conditions. Able to act as a model for stable lifestyle and personality. Must be free of psychological or substance abuse impairments that adversely affect job performance. Is willing to cooperate with formal, independent psychological evaluation if questions are raised in the above areas. Must demonstrate competence in writing psychological reports and in utilizing other documentation systems utilized at RHSHC. Ability to adhere to RHSHC personnel policies.
