Counter Terrorism Analyst
Job Description The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for a Counter Terrorism Analyst for its Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU). CTU investigates domestic and international threats to the citizens of New York with an emphasis on disrupting those individuals who recruit and inspire others to engage in acts of terror, and those who finance terrorist activities. The Counter Terrorism Analyst will work closely with DANY prosecutors, NYPD, and federal law enforcement agencies to collect and analyze evidence, write reports, present briefings, and testify. The position is an unique opportunity for aspiring counterterrorism analysts to gain investigative and legal experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Draft legal process, analyze returns, and present findings to the case team. - Perform OSINT, research, and various database checks to generate leads and enhance cases. - Develop and expand expertise on different terrorist groups, investigative methods and tools, and technological developments (i.e cryptocurrency, AI, and encryption). - Write reports and give presentations on selected topics. - Assist in the preparation and conduct of grand jury presentations and trials. - Liaise with internal and external partners. - Perform special projects as assigned. In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following: - Level 1 – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and one (1) year of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent. - Level 2 - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent. - Level 3 - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and three (3) years of experience either as a paralegal in the criminal justice field or equivalent. *Master’s degree can be substituted for years of experience. * Preferred Requirements/Skills: - Speak, read, write Arabic. - Bachelor's degree, preferably in political studies, international relations, history. - Previous law enforcement experience or knowledge of terrorism. - Knowledge of data analysis and/or programming. - Excellent organization, communication, writing, multitask, and creative problem-solving skills are essential; must be detail oriented. - Proficient in presentation software such as PowerPoint. - Must possess a general fluency with computer applications and electronic devices and a readiness to quickly learn about and adapt to rapid changes in technology. - Must have the ability to effectively communicate investigative results to others and be very comfortable giving briefings and presentations. - Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy. Hours/Shift: - Monday – Friday, from 9 am – 5 pm. In addition, must meet the minimum qualifications of the position. - Looking for candidates that could commit to two (2) years to the hiring division. - Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position. Qualifications Qualification Requirements 1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or 2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
