The Iowa Judicial Branch is an E-Verify employer. + Description + Questions Job Description The 6th Judicial District of Iowa has an immediate opening for a Court Reporter. The starting salary for new State of Iowa Judicial employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. The pay range is $28.52 to $46.54/hour. Court Reporter positions are under the direction and supervision of the District Court Administrator as the Chief Judge’s designee and can be assigned to report on proceedings with any judge in any county in the 6th Judicial District. This position may occasionally involve travel to other counties in the district. Job Duties include but not limited to: + Captures court testimony and proceedings with stenography machine. + Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request. + Prepares transcripts, performs general office work. ? Minimum Qualification Requirements Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and graduation from a school of court reporting. Must be certified by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters within 12 months of employment, and certification must be maintained as a condition of employment. Certification demonstrates proficiency based on the standard of the National Court Reporters Association for the earned designation of Registered Professional Reporter or the National Verbatim Reporters Association for the earned designation of Certified Verbatim Reporter. Court Reporter will purchase and maintain court reporting software and stenotype machines and/or verbatim recording equipment. Travel required.
