Responsibilities

The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Chaplain Intern is responsible for the delivery of pastoral care to patients, their loved ones, and staff. Responsibilities will include to ensure that religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met in areas assigned.

Provides pastoral care to patients and families in a timely manner and serves as a professional spiritual care resource.Maintains accurate documentation in patient charts regarding spiritual care interventions, plans, and outcomes.Advocates for patient rights in regard to spiritual, cultural, and psychosocial values and how they impact a patient and their support system response to their care.May be asked to support an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care if ACPE Educator deems appropriate.Provides education to patients and families about spiritual resources, advance directives, organ and tissue donation,ethics, and other spiritual issues that may arise.Participates in ritual, worship, and sacramental needs of patients, family and staff.Provides pastoral care to staff and serves as professional spiritual care resource and fosters a sense of spirituality in the workplace throughout the medical center.Keeps records as required of pastoral activities.
Qualifications

MINIMUM

BA in Theology, Pastoral Care/Counseling, Divinity, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree recognized by applicant's faith group

MINIMUM

MA in Theology, Pastoral Care/Counseling, Divinity, or equivalent Masters degree recognized by applicant's faith group
