CPF Worker I, Central Production Facility (Turkey Thicket), 7hrs/10mos, Ad Closes 1/16/25

Summary Description:
Under supervision, performs food manufacturing activities that support all MCPS schools. Responsible for proper food handling procedures and the sanitation of equipment and work area cleanliness throughout the work day. May assume additional duties as directed by the manager. Employees in this class receive on-the-training in food preparation and CPS operations but are expected to have some experience in food service work. Nature of work requires sustained moderate to heavy physical effort, operation of industrial food service equipment and continuous standing. The work is performed under the supervision of a CPF Manager or other food service supervisory staff.Physical Demands:Ability to perform work requiring sustained moderate physical effort, operation of commercial food service equipment, movement of objects weighing 40-60 pounds and continuous standing. Ability to move dollies weighing up to 250 pounds into refrigerated areas. Ability to work in areas that are temperature controlled Work is in temperature controlled work environments that may require moving from high humidity area to cold areas (55-60 degrees). Work performed is very physically demanding. Pushing dollies loaded with meals weighing up to 250 lbs. into and out of refrigerated areas, stacking tubs of prepared foods and pushing them up ramps into production areas, breaking down pallet loads of canned goods and organizing them for opening, and numerous other activities performed on a continual basis throughout the work day make this position more physically demanding than would be found in a school environment. Ability to stand in one location for extended periods while performing the work.Special Requirements:May be asked to work overtime or weekends. Some positions require use of personal car, with reimbursement for mileage provided.

Some knowledge of food preparation and food sanitation techniques, food handling packaging, and storage procedures. Ability to follow food sanitation procedures. Ability to learn prescribed food preparation methods and school cafeteria operations. Ability to retrieve necessary menu items and recipe ingredients. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions. Ability to communicate with customers. Basic human relations skills needed to work cooperatively in close proximity with others under constant deadlines. Very good mathematical skills are necessary. ability to work cooperatively in a diverse work group is essential. Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to focus attention on the job at hand. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Education Training Experience:
Completion of the ninth grade required. High School or GED diploma preferred. Experience with food preparation techniques and safety procedures. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Valid Class C noncommercial driver^s license. Sanitation certification required or obtain this certification during the first six months of employment.
