GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, the CQI Senior Registry Data Analyst is responsible for the design, development, modification, and testing of databases to facilitate the collection and analysis of data to improve the quality of care and patient outcomes for a select group of patients throughout the State of Michigan. This role also includes designing workflow, website programing, reports, and functions as the lead for Registry Data Analysts and training.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibility for leading the collaborative stakeholders (Coordinating Center team members as well as Collaborative members) in matters of workflow. Leveraging analytic skills and knowledge of database and website features make recommendations to key stakeholders regarding current and future strategies, ensuring effective data collection strategies and systems for all stakeholders for entering information into CQI database. Translate stakeholder needs and requirements into detailed technical specification documents to develop and maintain processes and tools for both manual and automated data collections. With knowledge of current program – plan, design, develop, test, and roll out to stakeholders any database, website programming and data collection workflow updates, including data collection for ad hoc pilot projects. Design training processes and materials in order to implement training of all users on any aspects of workflow and website usage applicable to their role. Provide training and support to web application users (internal website as well as external) (100+) regarding workflow, data collection processes, and registry functions including report functions. Respond to questions, demonstrate utilization methods and research information needed so that the staff and stakeholders may use the database system effectively in achieving their professional objectives. Document programming attributes for all components of report functions for key stakeholders in order to anticipate programming problems and conflicts when new features are being designed/developed. Lead and mentor other Coordinating Center team data and website users to assist in elevating their skill set and knowledge of the project and database. Independently perform site visits to evaluate processes at participating hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and/or physician offices to make recommendations for improving efficiency in workflow and accuracy of data collection. Capability of functioning as the CQI’s data collection subject-matter expert and point of contact for troubleshooting and technical support. Ensure effective data integration and storage, with an eye toward designing and implementing seamless data-driven mechanisms and approaches wherever possible. Establish procedures and data quality approaches to ensure the accuracy of information we capture and use, along with seamless outputs of data to achieve organizational aims. Make recommendations and implement effective data clean-up processes. Determine and monitor organizational data and database uses to ensure effective operations while determining other colleagues’ roles and privileges within the database. Using knowledge of workflow and programming, determine and perform ad hoc analysis of data as needed for investigative purposes regarding suspicious data entry patterns. Analyze and generate actionable insights from structured and unstructured data. Identify strategic uses for data to achieve organizational objectives. Works with management, staff, and other internal stakeholders to analyze complex requests for information. Keep abreast of trends and other data tools to enhance our ability to utilize data effectively, i.e. reports, queries, and dashboards. Oversee regular reporting using data. Review and ensure proper documentation of requests for datasets from end-users regarding research projects with an eye toward protecting data from inappropriate use or use for purposes prohibited by collaborative. Consistently adhere to rigorous standards and utilize tools in a reproducible manner to ensure accuracy in programming and documentation when performing analysis. Train analytic team on nuances of database and how the workflow affects the dataset. Design and code updates to collaborative’s public website with an eye toward making recommendations to stakeholders for optimum use of this website as a tool for meeting collaborative’s needs as projects evolve. Design data reports for measuring, reporting, and analyzing on achievement of collaborative goals for use by stakeholders in achieving their professional objectives. Design data reports in a way that can be easily understood by a variety of audiences. Responsible for reporting/generating data on a regularly scheduled and ad hoc basis and as requested by colleagues and other collaborative members.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Health Services Management or a health-related field OR an associate degree In InformationTechnology with a minimum of six to eight (6-8) years of equivalent work experience. Five (5) years of experience in data collection design and implementation for research or quality improvement projects. Five (5) years of experience in SQL. Five (5) years of experience in coding websites. Five (5) years of project management. Five (5) years of experience with application reporting tools. Five (5) years of experience in healthcare domain. Understanding of relational databases and data architecture. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues into understandable flow diagrams and data scenarios. A systems mindset, able to facilitate connections between data gathering, storage, use and reporting – with a bias toward practical utilization of data. Proficiency with database architecture, logic and usage for constituent management, Strong work ethic and ability to work independently, plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously, and support a variety of stakeholders. Experience designing and distributing surveys and analyzing results is a plus. High level of skills with Excel, PowerPoint, SQL & Access. Takes initiative and can work independently. Effective communications and teamwork abilities. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. A positive attitude and strong customer service ability.
