Craft Supervisor- Facilities (Dry Dock)
**Job Description** Understand and oversee the operation of drydock machinery and equipment during drydocking evolutions. Understand and oversee the operation of the drydock Ballast Control System during drydocking evolutions. Acts as back up for the Assistant Dockmaster. Assists in the day to day operations of the Facilities Docking Department. Maintains BAE NSR and departmental policies. **RESPONSIBILITIES** + Places safety above production in performance of team activities + Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiates to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs. + On-site deck-plate leader for the trade, working with a team of typically 8-15 mechanics/electricians to accomplish assigned production activities. Responsible for safety, quality, schedule, and cost control for their team. + Ability to interpret information provided on Dry Dock Engineered drawings and to provide oversight for construction of ship support blocking systems. + Plans and projects manpower requirements to support Dry Dock activities. Communicates resource requirements to the Dockmaster or Assistant Dockmaster. + Assigns mechanics/electricians to jobs to most effectively utilize their skill set and maximize performance. + Reviews schedule for planning work and communicate progress to Dockmaster or Assistant Dockmaster. + DE conflicts work and informs the Dockmaster of any potential problem that jeopardizes completion of quality work within budget and schedule. + Coordinates their assignments with other shops and insures projected goals are met, and all issues are being addressed. + Inspects every job by every mechanic/electrician upon completion to ensure trade quality standards and attention to detail have been met. + Monitors trade/shop rework trends and implements corrective action. + Participates in development of standard / best practice and continuous improvement initiatives. + Manages workforce performance and compliance to company rules; Implements corrective action, conflict management, and disciplinary action when necessary. + Monitors workforce performance and absenteeism. + Performs all job functions in accordance with BAE s Mission, Vision, Values and Principles. + Develops daily work assignments and expectations for production workforce. + Maintains a safe work environment for all employees. + Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs. + Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned. + Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Responsible for adhering to: + Production Schedules + Work Specifications + Budget Constraints + Safety Regulations + Staffing constraints Safe docking operations **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES** + Education and experience are taken into consideration + Preferred BA/ BS plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience, or 8 years of direct ship repair experience + In-depth knowledge in all facets of trades relating to dry dock operation or ship repair + Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of production processes, methods, quality and technology. + Effective leadership, communication and team-building skills. + Must be able to handle many tasks at one time. + Proven ability in people environment. + Proficient in Microsoft products. + Knowledge of NAVSEA 1625D and Naval Ship Technical Manual Chapter 997. + Familiarity with ship repair specifications and ability to read blueprints. + Ability to interpret information provided on Drydock Engineered drawings and to provide oversight for the construction of ship support blocking systems. + Understands supports and commits to BAE mission, vision and values. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS** Must be able to gain access to all work locations including government and private ship yards and/or vessels. Must be able to climb on and around ships and walk to other yard areas. Requires extended period of standing and walking (75%). Daily inspections require climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding, and observing workers using tools and equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, chemical vapors and smoke. Spends up to 100% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates and shifts. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Endures noise levels from moderate to extremely noisy (75%). VISION REQUIREMENTS: The worker is required to be examined and show proof of being examined no less than every 10 years to ensure natural or corrected near-distance visual acuity in at least one eye, and for color perception using the Ishihara Test or the Farnsworth D-15 Test. **WORKING RELATIONSHIPS** Reports to the dockmaster. Coordinates various operations with multiple trades. Oversees the daily operations of a crew of drydock mechanics performing maintenance and vessel support tasks. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS** + Work may require assignment to offsite locations + Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation + Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required + Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility + Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear Must have good eye/hand coordination **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $71600 - $121700 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
