POSITION SUMMARY The Marathon Petroleum Salt Lake City Refinery is seeking qualified applicants to fill full-time Machinist/Millwright positions at our Salt Lake City, Utah refinery. Machinists/Millwrights perform highly skilled mechanical maintenance in and repairs to refinery machinery – pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, gearboxes, etc. *** This position does not include relocation. *** KEY RESPONSIBILITIES + Troubleshoot and repair refinery machinery. + Must be safety conscious at all times. + Shop and field repair to refinery machinery including but not limited to pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, gearboxes. + Skilled in alignment techniques (reverse dial/laser alignments). + Perform maintenance per established written procedures. + Use drawings, equipment manuals, procedures, and proper tools to troubleshoot and repair equipment. + Documents work performed in forms and condition/repair reports. + Proficient at using all measuring tools including scales, micrometers, snap gauges, digital height gauges, and thread micrometers. + Operate machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, balancers, drill presses, overhead jibs, bridge cranes, forklifts as well as other machinery. + Foster a positive attitude, willingness to collaborate and team with others to accomplish work efficiently and to high quality standards. + Must be willing to work overtime as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum (Required) Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent. + Five plus years Machinist/Millwright experience in an industrial/military setting. + Must be able to read engineering design drawings, operate machine shop equipment, and repair pumps and compressors in the refinery. + Experience running manual lathe and mill desired. + A valid driver’s license is required. + Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future. + Able to work off-hour duties such as plant shutdowns and routine on-call support. Preferred Qualifications + Completion of a 4-year machinist/millwright program and/or a journeyman card from an industrial apprenticeship program is desired. Physical Requirements + Builders work in a safety-sensitive environment and must successfully complete a rigorous pre-employment assessment process, drug/alcohol/medical screenings, and a background check. To ensure safe operations, new hires must also participate in random drug & alcohol screenings. Schedule + Machinists/Millwrights work a four-ten schedule and must be available for overtime as required. About Marathon's Salt Lake City Refinery: Salt Lake City Refinery began operations in 1908 and is now the largest in Utah with a total crude-oil capacity of 75,000 barrels per day (bpd). The refinery processes crude oil from Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Canada to manufacture gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, heavy fuel oils and liquefied petroleum gas.
