Job Duties and Responsibilities
Product Naming
Work with cross-functional teams (merchants, Business Development Managers, legal, leadership) to develop compelling, brand-right product, franchise, sub-brand names to ensure we are effectively portraying our product’s value.
Develop content that highlights the features and benefits of products, turning technical specifications into consumer-friendly language
Gain alignment among stakeholders and proactively communicate back to the cross-functional teams
Product Copywriting
Subject Matter Expert around technical product descriptions within brand portfolio + intended audiences and what resonates with each specific athlete to develop a variety of content in several writing styles for vast audiences.
Write compelling, original, engaging and compliant product content that is forward-thinking and aligned with brand personality and athlete content consumption habits
Craft copy for a range of materials such as brand books, signage, packaging, ecommerce/web support/SEO knowledge.
Work collaboratively to define the language used to define the individual vertical brands across all internal and athlete-facing touchpoints
Adept at presenting ideas, while convincingly setting the tone, rallying support, and bringing energy/excitement
Product Market Analysis & Research
Research new and relevant ideas to align copy content to the overall product brand look, tone and feel while keeping designs fresh in the marketplace.
Understand competitive landscape for all vertical brand categories based on trends in the market that are relevant to the specific category
Keep current on design, content and companywide initiatives related to product and brand development
Time & Action
Execute assigned projects to meet deadlines set forth by Creative Manager
Identify risks/opportunities for brand projects; present roadblocks and solutions to continue to drive the process forward
Define franchises and segments within individual vertical brands
Works closely and collaborates with business partners to help develop long-term and short-term content strategies and materials to effectively portray our product’s value to consumers
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
Supervise and Develop Talent
Trains and mentors new hires by sharing experience, knowledge and best practices.
Supervises and provides guidance on projects and deliverables, holding teammate accountable to deadlines. This includes organizing and monitoring workload to ensure priority deliverables are fast tracked.
Establishes best practices across the larger team to drive productivity and efficiencies.
Share timely and actionable feedback with teammates on deliverables to ensure accountability, coach and mentor as needed.
Provides Associate Copywriters with timely and regular feedback to support teammate development/ growth in role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, English Writing
5-7 years experience in Copy Writing, Retail Packaging Design, Product Design
Copy Writing Experience, plus if in retail.
Vertical Brand experience is a plus.
Previous agency experience
Experience in the consumer goods, retail, or manufacturing industries a plus
