Creative Digital Intern

The AARP Alabama team seeks a Creative Digital Intern to join our energetic team and assist with social media, content creation, and graphic design focused on key issues such as caregiving, financial security, and more. This paid internship is anticipated to start in Spring 2025 and can continue throughout the year. Responsibilities The Creative Digital Intern will partner with the Communications and Outreach team to use digital mediums like social media, websites, and apps to communicate with diverse audiences. Duties will include the following: Plan and create social media content which includes designing compelling graphics and videos. Support and create virtual events and multimedia projects that support AARP AL’s social mission work Assist with editorial planning, content management and scheduling, and channel management Assist with reporting and data analysis Assist with website management Monitor posts and respond promptly to all questions and comments Work with the Communications Director to ensure brand consistency Qualifications The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university, be considered a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or post-doctoral student, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship Pursuing a degree in communications, public policy, marketing, or related fields Knowledge of Canva, Streamyard, and other video editing apps is helpful Strong written, oral, interpersonal, computer and creative digital content skills required Highly organized orientation and time management skills required Proven ability to handle multiple projects, work independently with minimum direction, and work as a member or leader of a team Demonstrated ability to work on fast-paced, time-sensitive matters with internal and external constituents Ability to utilize available technology to perform position responsibilities AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories. Compensation and Benefits The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
