Job Summary:

This individual is assigned the responsibility of assisting the Director of medical staff services with all aspects of the credentialing and maintenance of files for medical staff and allied health practitioners.

Responsibilities:      

Processes applicants for Initial Medical Staff Appointment. Prepares file for submission to Credentials Committee. Maintains applicant files. Queries National Data Bank, OIG, FL-DOH, DEA, and Certifacts for initial medical staff appointment. Arranges Credentials Committee Meetings. Arranges for Temporary Privileges and One-Case Consults. Responds to requests for verification of physicians status on medical staff. Implements, monitors, and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of services in the Medical Staff Office; identifies and resolves problems as they arise. Maintains a current copy, and has working knowledge of the current Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations. Works closely with designated members of the medical staff in developing revision of Bylaws, Rules and Regulations.                  Maintains close communications with the medical staff officers, department chairmen, and committee chairs to prepare for respective meetings. Ensures follow-up of all medical staff standing committee meetings.  Monitors Vistar Software Credentialing database system to increase effectiveness and efficiency of medical staff data. Ensures practitioners are credentialed according to the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and in compliance with JCAHO requirements, Federal & State Rules and Regulations

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma. Minimum of 1 year experience in Medical Staff credentialing. Must be proficient in written and oral English, have strong computer skills and be able to compose correspondence and reports on own initiative.
