Credentialing Specialist
 

The Medical Staff Services department is paramount in assuring patient safety through the credentialing, privileging and re-credentialing verification process for all providers, including physicians and advanced practice professionals. As part of this multi-specialty team, this position ensures that provider education, training and qualifications are verified according to the department standards and policies.

About the Job:

This is an onsite, full-time position Minimum 2 years’ hospital credentialing and privileging experience required Starting wage: $24.95 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Performs the credentialing process for new and existing providers within the system and with external affiliations, including communications with the provider and obtaining new and/or updated data necessary for the completion of applications Collects, verifies, and ensures the accuracy of information including education, training, certifications, and licensure Identifies, investigates, and follows-up on all potentially adverse information received from credentialing sources according to established guidelines Responsible for maintaining up-to-date records in electronic credentialing database; includes entering data and updating records Contacts licensing boards, education institutions and other organizations to verify credentials as necessary Monitors and tracks expiring appointments at other affiliate hospitals to ensure timely renewals, including notification to providers of upcoming expiration of privileges; follows up to ensure that renewals are completed Completes assigned work within specified timelines, ensures timely completion of credentialing tasks, proactively communicates progress and issues to relevant parties, raising concerns to leadership as necessary Provides support and guidance to providers and internal stakeholders on matters related to credentialing and privileging Performs other related duties as assigned Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

 

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

 

Minimum 2 years’ hospital credentialing and privileging experience required Working knowledge of DNV standards and familiarity with NCQA requirements preferred MDStaff Credentialing Software experience preferred CPCS certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services preferred Excellent organization and communication skills Ability to prioritize daily work to meet deadlines
