About The Role Summary Responsible for analyzing financial data, assisting with preparation of credit authorizations, performing annual commercial credit reviews. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Credit Analyst 1 will work under the supervision of the Credit Manager/Trainer and will learn to perform tasks such as: Gathering and analyzing financial data from various sources, such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, credit reports, rent rolls, leases, appraisals, and customer projections. Calculating financial ratios and evaluating financial performance of existing business customers and new business customers. Assessing the risk level and repayment ability of the borrowers based on their financial performance, credit history, industry trends, market conditions, etc. Preparing annual term loan reviews to evaluate financial performance of existing commercial loan customers. Communicating with the Lending Officers, to obtain additional information or clarify any issues. Preparing credit authorizations and recommendations based on the analysis and findings. Following the credit policies and procedures and ensuring compliance with the relevant regulations and standards. Complete assigned training, both online and real-time (in-person or on training calls) to develop knowledge base in commercial lending, financial statement analysis and risk management. Attend internal loan committee meetings to gain credit knowledge, understand the bank’s risk appetite, and hear real-time feedback on credit presentations prepared by Credit Analysts and Lending Officers. Spread financial statements and tax returns with accuracy to assist Credit Analysts and Lending Officers in analyzing credits in a timely manner. Review annual term loan reviews and credit authorizations for proper completion of risk rating scorecards and loan details. Review lending policy, loan documents, and financial statements to learn proper loan structuring. Work with analyst and lending teams to complete annual term loan reviews, small dollar amount renewals, and ongoing covenant compliance testing. Regular and predictable attendance to accomplish job duties and provide in-person contact with customers. Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. About You QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent credit analyst knowledge gained through a combination of education and experience Minimum of two-year prior experience in banking, or related field. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY: Ability to process detailed information with accuracy and efficiency Assignments involve work of a confidential nature, necessitating exposure to sensitive information and contacts requiring discretion A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with others in the Bank to perform effective reviews and to report the results. Knowledge and proficiency with various computer programs; including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel, various database software programs, and other software commonly used in the banking industry Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate detailed information in clear, easy to understand manner Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to both prioritize and multi-task while adapting to changing workflow and personalities Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and ability to apply concepts of basic math Basic understanding of financial data such as cash flow, balance sheet, income statement, and collateral valuation Analytical skills to assess and evaluate areas of responsibility including determination of loan risk involved and recommendation of credit limitations Must make sound judgments and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: The employee is constantly required to stand and walk. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
