As a Credit Officer you'll be responsible for approving, administering and reviewing loans and loan commitments to ensure that they adhere to existing policy guidelines and that documentation is adequate to ensure security of collateral, providing a “first line of defense” within the Bank’s Credit Risk Management framework. You'll oversee primary credit portfolio management and reporting activities consistent with the Bank’s policies and procedures. One of your key responsibilities is to build relationships with account officers by assisting in analyzing, underwriting, and managing credits as well as to support the Credit Administration team by expediting the team's prescreening, underwriting and approval process.What we are looking for:
Reviews large and complex loans prior to submission.
Communicates with leadership on deal pipeline, portfolio issues and any other material matters.
Consistently applies good decision making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, requests as they apply to existing policies and procedures, keeping within assigned approval limits and using these instances as learning tools for employee development.
Assists in reviewing and updating credit policies and procedures. Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Reviews legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency with approved terms and conditions.
Performs periodic assessments of concentration limits and concentration risk to local economy and periodic local economic analysis.
Assists with preparation and review of quarterly portfolio reviews. Oversees loan grading process to ensure loans are properly risk rated.
Assists in workout credits assigned to the department and prepares LAPSR’s for criticized loans, as well as preparing monitoring reports for Watch credits.
Will assist Loan Officers in the management of weak credits. Performs post mortems on charged off loans.
Updates and corresponds with legal counsel and collectors on workouts, bankruptcies, and charge-offs to ensure all possible precautionary actions or measures are taken.
Work directly with the Bank’s overall Portfolio Credit Risk Management function providing data inputs, quality control correction and feedback, dashboard reporting, and execution of corporate efforts surrounding Credit Portfolio Stress Testing, Dual Risk Rating procedures, concentration management and related Portfolio Credit Risk Management processes.
May lead and develop a team; responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, training and development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
Experience in dealing with credit for the VC and Sponsor sectors of commercial lending.
Six (6) years of direct, related experience
Advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
Advancedknowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
Strong speaking and writing skills for external and internal audiences
