A Credit Research Intern is offered the opportunity to support the research and analysis functions across the public and private securitized debt markets, focusing primarily on CMBS. This position will have daily interaction with portfolio managers, traders, and senior research analysts across the securitized team. We are seeking candidates with a strong interest in a career in fixed income and a knowledge of investment analysis. Qualified candidates will have excellent analytical problem solving and communication skills in addition to strong academic achievement. A background and/or interest in real estate is preferred.
Provide research support for analyzing and underwriting bond investments.
Monitoring credit risk and performance of existing investment holdings.
Perform independent research on industries and sectors within fixed income market.
Participate and contribute to all aspects of the investment process including meetings with issuers and management.
Role has potential exposure to other commercial real estate investment teams within Thrivent including commercial loans and private equity.
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Current Junior (Graduation Date of Dec. 2025 or May 2026) pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field.
Working knowledge of accounting, finance, corporate strategy, real estate and financial statistics.
Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making and mathematical skills.
Ability to take work direction from various leaders as well as work independently.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel. Experience with investment tools such as FactSet, Aladdin, and/or Bloomberg is a plus.
Ability to work full time during the summer (May-August).
