The anticipated salary range for this role is between $190,000.00 and $225,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
**Role Description**
As the Team Leader – Director, reporting to Credit Portfolio Management - Managing Director, the candidate shall be responsible for leading a team of senior credit reviewers. It encompasses planning and execution of standard credit reviews, risk assessment, continuous monitoring, tracking of issue remediation while ensuring quality, timeliness and efficiency of credit review cycles and providing on going coaching and guidance to team members. Also responsible for building and reviewing credit review strategies to duly execute with adequate controls including, but not limited to, enhancement in quality/efficiency of our credit review cycles, installment of accountability to members with necessary training plans etc.
**Role Objectives**
+ Lead team in CRVD, develop and implement detailed plans for examination activities. Ensure efficient use of resources for the timely completion of activities.
+ Conduct objective assessment of the assigned EEs and ensure emerging risks are identified and highlighted.
+ Provide senior oversight to the review team for assessment of quality of credit risk management and direction of credit risk along with adherence to Bank risk appetite
+ Review and edit the work performed by Examiners In-Charge of assigned Examinable Entities (EEs), ensure the integrity of exceptions findings, impact and materiality of risk issues.
+ Provides analytical guidance to team members and performs related portfolio management functions.
+ Engages in administrative matters, strategic and tactical workforce/succession planning, performance management, mentorship, and professional/career development activities for all in scope members.
+ Drafts reports and delivers presentations to various stakeholders. Undertake ad-hoc projects and assist Senior Management in implementation of new framework and transformation of policies and procedures.
+ Present to State and Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) regulators about, not limited to, its covering portfolio, business units, risk issues and emerging risks.
+ Report findings to management of Credit Review and senior management of the bank. Report to managements on its portfolio, business units and teams covering.
+ Engages in employee relations matters, strategic and tactical workforce/succession planning, performance management, mentorship, and professional/career development activities for all in scope members.
**Qualifications and Skills**
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with post graduate business degree and/or CFA.
+ Minimum 15-year experience in the credit risk management of large or medium size regulated bank across diverse set of credit products, especially project finance.
+ Ability to work independently, accept accountability and demonstrate initiative. Prior experience in credit review or regulatory review function will be an advantage.
+ Demonstrated understanding of credit risk management issues and emerging risk in US Corporate Banking business verticals across diverse sub-sectors and credit structures with exposure to large and middle-market corporates.
+ Solid grasp of regulatory grading, relevant regulatory framework, policies and procedures. Prior experience of regulatory interaction will be a plus.
+ Demonstrated skill set with respect to: leadership and team building, collaborative communication and effective presentation.
+ Self-motivated, with strong work ethics, good project management, planning and organizational skills with ability to handle competing project priorities and a diverse workload.
