ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB partners with CREST (Commercial Real Estate Success Training) in a 10-week paid internship program designed to introduce women and people of color to the commercial real estate industry. The CREST Internship program runs from 7/1/2025-9/9/2025.
Experience the activity and workflows of a large engineering firm – focusing on Civil Engineering, Permitting, Environmental Resources, Survey, Planning & Landscape Architecture, and Structures. The Intern will rotate departments to get exposure to different services within VHB.
The internship will be virtual and in-person and be supplemented with site visits to various locations in MA to assist with field work. Rotation between VHBs Watertown and Boston offices.
Responsibilities
Work side by side with engineers as they develop design solutions for urban and suburban building projectsParticipate in site construction observationsExposure to CAD based design and computer modelling of stormwater systemsParticipate in site research and on-site evaluationsGain insight on what it takes to permit large and complicated real estate development projects by working closely with the Permitting Team Work side by side with team leaders, assist with the preparation of an environmental filing to gain experience with all the different technical studies required for a filing Assist with field surveyGet exposure to plan preparation and registry researchWork side by side with planners and they develop plans for communities and private developersQualifications
Civil Engineering major or a student who is enrolled in Planning, Environmental Sciences, Structural Engineering or Landscape Architecture. Strong desire for further exposure to the industry.Strong communication skills, both written and verbalComputer programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, GIS, CAD drafting softwareMember of the CREST Program
