Crew Leader - Bakersfield, CA

Position Description

The Crew Lead will be expected to provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) level guidance and assistance to the operations team to ensure the safe and efficient operations of area pipeline and compression facilities. The Crew Lead position will also assist local area management in project oversight, damage prevention SME reviews, pipeline pigging and shutout plans, job closure document review, and other tasks as assigned. The successful candidate promoted to this position will retain all operator qualifications and remain in the passive on call rotation as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist local area management in project oversight including required documentation.Coordinate required resources efficiently to complete projects and repairs in a timely manner.Develop and implement pipeline pigging and shutout plans.Provide SME review of Damage Prevention activities including KMOCs audit corrections.Develop the skills of other employees and contractors.Perform hands-on technician/technical work.Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.Assist in the development of annual capital and O&M budgets.Participate in corporate and government agency inspections and audits as required: (PHMSA, ACC, NNEPA, AZEPA, Corporate EHS, US EPA, etc.).Develop and inspect site-specific procedures, work plans, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Hot Work, etc.Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.Effectively and safely respond to emergencies following Kinder Morgan response procedures.Expected to be capable of responding to after-hours call outs including during dark hours in any weather condition.Work extended hours and overtime as needed/required.Other duties as assigned by local management.

Position Requirements

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience, Skills, Competencies, and Knowledge:

Demonstrate strong leadership qualities.Must represent the company in a professional and respectful manner.Ability to analyze problems, identify issues, and implement solutions.Ability to develop and evaluate plans for a variety of projects.Strong planning and organizational skills, including ability to assume a project manager role for a variety of projects as assigned.Good verbal and written communication.Strong mechanical aptitude required.Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, Maximo, KMOCs, various operating systems, and other software).Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).Must work well with others as a team, take direction, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow company policies/procedures.Ability to complete work with minimal supervision.Treat others with respect and act in a professional manner.

Experience/Specific Knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position):

Knowledge and Experience in natural gas compressor stations and pipeline system operations.Familiarity with maintenance tracking databases (i.e. Maximo, WMS, SAP, etc.)Experience in pipeline damage prevention activities.Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, Pipe & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and other schematics.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license meeting company insurability requirements.Achieve and maintain all required Operator Qualifications (OQs) and Certification requirements applicable to the job classification.

Physical Demands (must be met with or without accommodation):

Physical ability to lift as much as 50lbs safely and appropriately.Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, crouching, crawling, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, smelling, depth perception, color vision.Ability to use hand tools and equipment, repetitive hand use such as simple grasp and twisting motion.Must be able to climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways, etc.May work in low-lighted areas.Must be willing to respond to after-hours call outs including during dark hours in any weather condition.Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

The majority of work will be performed in a plant or pipeline right of way setting with office time for planning and project documentation activities.May be required to carry a company-provided cell phone.Respond to after-hours call outs including during dark hours in any weather condition.Work in extremely hot conditionsWork in extremely cold conditionsMay be required to work extended hours and overtime with little or no warning.Must sustain regular and predictable attendance.

Must live or relocate to live (by position start date) within fifty (50) road miles, or an hour drive from reporting location in regularly expected traffic and weather.

Pay: $57.70 per hour. This position includes a discretionary annual incentive plan. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
