DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties include: + Independently preparing analytical reports, summaries, assessments, and conclusions based on experience concerning investigations or intelligence collection efforts; + Presenting analytical findings via charts, graphics, written documents, and oral briefings. Generates and tests hypotheses and conclusions based on collected data and analytical and professional judgment; + Providing support to criminal investigations by researching the sophisticated or complex persons, organizations, businesses involved in criminal activity to determine the structure and scope of operations; + Reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing current intelligence data, current events, periodicals and publications related to criminals, their activity and to crime trends and impact of specific crime within the operations center area; + Testifying before grand juries and criminal trials on information developed during investigations and criminal cases when required to do so; + As an essential member, responding to critical incidents or disasters, both natural and man-made, to perform duties consistent with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) protocols such as performing necessary duties in resource and mission tracking, logistics support, lead tracking, etc. Performing investigative/intelligence analytical functions for any critical incident response when needed. May be required to be on-call for a given time period and work nights, weekends and/or holidays as part of regional on-call response; and + Applying legal issues surrounding the analytic process including privacy, confidentiality, civil rights, and civil liberties protections within the intelligence cycle and products, such as application of the 28 CFR Part 23 regulation and the handling of personally identifiable information (PII). Reviewing products for potential privacy, confidentiality, civil rights, and civil liberties-related concerns. To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. + Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. + Any combination of education or experience, as described above. + Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required education. Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: + Knowledge of information systems including usage as well as policies and procedures; + Knowledge of report writing techniques; + Ability to effectively utilize common computer software such as Microsoft Office products; + Ability to conduct thorough analytical assessments on assigned topics; + Ability to train individuals in an one-on-one or group setting; + Ability to use problem solving techniques; + Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; + Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data and to determine the significance, completeness and usefulness of the data + Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. BASE SALARY: Crime Intelligence Analyst I $41,200 – Bachelor’s degree* Crime Intelligence Analyst II $44,290 – Bachelor’s degree* and one year of analytical** experience. Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst I $46,350 – Bachelor’s degree* and three years of analytical** experience. Senior Crime Intelligence Analyst II $55,620 – Bachelor’s degree* and five years of analytical** experience. *A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience. **Analytical experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year- for-year basis. Analytical experience must be in the fields of: criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, law enforcement agency (CIA I/CIA II) or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency (SCIA I/SCIA II).
