CRIME VICTIM ADVOCATE (Spanish\/English Bilingual)

\n\nPurpose of Position\n\n

This position will conduct VOC program victim of crime advocacy, outreach activities, and more. This position varies as to what language is required and will be specified in job announcements. Position can be full or part-time depending on needs of KWA.\n
\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\n\nAssist Manager to run the daily service, provide training and working with volunteers\nProvide direct assistance to crime victims and their families.\nCoordinate with civil or criminal justice system \nAssist with filing for Crime Victims Compensation, writing Victim Impact Statement\nCoordinate with the healing center support services\nOffer emotional support, resources, referrals and assist with typical struggles created by victimization\nConduct the personalized safety plan for clients\nProvide follow-up and ongoing support with clients\nTranslate documents from English to Spanish as needed;\nPlan and execute outreach events to promote the programs; \nMake presentations about programs one-on-one or to groups of people as well as leadership network meeting\nMaintain proper client records, document individual meetings, document referrals, document intake\/progress\/exit procedures and program data. Communicating summaries of these records to internal and external sources as needed; \nProvide monthly and quarterly report of programs effectiveness to the program manager;\nEnter data for monthly reports accurately and timely; \nParticipate in staff meetings and training as requested;\nOther duties as assigned.\n\n

ADVOCACY AND COLLABORATION: \n\nEnsure comprehensive and confidential trauma-informed crisis intervention services are provided to survivors of crime victims;\nProvide individual advocacy and case management services to support survivors in identifying needs and options within the framework of their culture, abilities, and support network; \nCoordinate with the legal advocate to provide legal advocacy services around civil, criminal and immigration issues; \nBuild and maintain alliances and partnerships with social service providers;\nParticipate in local coalitions and task force meetings; \nAttend training as required;\nMake referrals to community services; and \nAttend staff, agency, and community meetings as necessary.\n\n



\n\nPosition Requirements and Qualifications\n\n\nSatisfactorily pass criminal history and reference checks;\nMust have bilingual ability to speak, read and write English and Spanish;\nMust have current driver's license, reliable transportation, current auto insurance;\nStrong understanding of assigned community, including best way for outreach;\nSelf-motivated, communicates well with all people;\nGood computer skills - data entry, MS Office, MS Excel Outlook Calendar;\nAbility to produce quality written communications;\nMust have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills;\nAbility to work independently and cooperatively with others;\nAbility to maintain confidentiality;\nAbility to be flexible and perform work under time pressure; and\nAbility to work with people of diversity.\n\n
\n\nEducational Level\n\n

Must have high school diploma or foreign equivalent; Some college preferred.\n\nExperience\n\n

Experience in community outreach, advocacy and\/or organizing preferred.\n
\n\nWorking Conditions\nEnvironmental parameters:\nAbility to work in an office environment; and\nAbility to drive to different locations.\nPhysical demands:\nType: sedentary work ability to perform administrative duties, typing, filing, bending over to low files, reaching high files;\nAbility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and\/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move an object; and\nWork involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking, standing, bending, twisting, reaching and driving.\n\n
